    摘要: In one embodiment of the present invention a system for connecting a fastener element (e.g., a pedicle screw) relative to a rod for the purposes of vertebral fixation is provided. The system may permit multi-axial movement between the fastener element and the rod. Further, the system may permit the angular relationship between the fastener element and the rod to be held in a desired orientation. For the purposes of describing and claiming the present invention, the term “rod” is intended to refer to any elongated structure. Such an elongated structure may be solid or hollow and may have any desired cross-section (e.g., circular, oval, square, rectangular). Further, for the purposes of describing and claiming the present invention, the term “interference fit” is intended to refer to physical contact between two or more components.

Embodiments receive an advertisement of offered services from each of a plurality of service providers. Such an advertisement may specify a list of offered services and pricing information for the services. A request for one or more services is received from a client at a first service provider. Embodiments determine a second service provider from the plurality of service providers to peer with to dynamically create a federation of peers for fulfilling the service request, based on the received advertisements of offered services and the requested services. Embodiments then peer with at least the determined second service provider to dynamically create a peered federation and fulfill the service request through the created federation of peers.

The outer body defines an internally threaded bore and an outer body cavity, and the inner body defines an inner body cavity. The inner body is at least partially disposed within the outer body. A pin is provided for connecting the inner and outer bodies to each other, while allowing for a limited amount of movement therebetween. A set screw suitable for being driven into the internally threaded bore is provided for securing the inner body to the spinal fixation system.

The method may further include generating configuration data based on the trigger unit information and the trigger expression information; and providing the configuration data to the PLD, wherein a trigger expression based on the trigger expression information is stored within memory of the PLD.

    摘要: A Plasma torch (10) for microwave induced plasma spectrochemical analysis of a sample includes a nozzle (30) in an inlet (18) for the main plasma gas flow between outer tube (12) and intermediate tube (14) of the torch (10). The nozzle (30) increases the gas flow velocity in the sheathing gas layer for the plasma which is provided by the gas flow from the annular gap (22) between the tubes (12 and 14). The increased velocity of the gas in the sheathing gas layer “stiffens” that layer and thus better confines the microwave induced plasma (such better confinement not being necessary for an ICP torch). Thus the torch is of improved durability for a microwave induced plasma compared to an ICP torch. The sample injection (inner) tube (16) may have a reduced diameter outlet at its end (34) which is substantially level with the end (35) of intermediate tube (14) to improve injection of a sample into the microwave induced plasma. The inlet end (26) of the sample injection tube (16) may include a heater (36) to assist in preventing blockages in tube (16) near its outlet end.

    摘要: A plasma source for a spectrometer includes a plasma torch (10) located within a waveguide or resonant cavity (40) for both the electric and the magnetic field components of a microwave electromagnetic field to excite a plasma (54). This produces a plasma (54) having a generally elliptical cross section into which sample is relatively easily injected but which still provides good thermal coupling between the plasma and the sample. The invention gives significantly improved limits of detection compared to prior art microwave induced plasma systems. The torch is preferably axially aligned with the direction of the magnetic field component and may be located within a resonant iris (32) within the waveguide or cavity (40).
