Abstract:
A smart camera system provides focused images to an operator at a host computer by processing digital images at the imaging location prior to sending them to the host computer. The smart camera has a resident digital signal processor for preprocessing digital images prior to transmitting the images to the host. The preprocessing includes image feature extraction and filtering, convolution and deconvolution methods, correction of parallax and perspective image error and image compression. Compression of the digital images in the smart camera at the imaging location permits the transmission of very high resolution color or high resolution grayscale images at real-time frame rates such as 30 frames per second over a high speed serial bus to a host computer or to any other node on the network, including any remote address on the Internet.
Abstract:
The device for processing and infiltration of histological specimens according to the invention applied for comprises a rotating means consisting of a ring of containers for cassettes with histological specimens which is mounted on a horizontal rotation axis in the vertical plane. The inner diameter of the ring is 2-4 times the width of a cassette for histological specimens. The rotating means is located in a case, which is connected to tanks for processing and infiltration fluids and to a vacuum pump through branch pipes. The rotating means is connected to a means for rotating it at variable rate.
Abstract:
A wash fluid containment system includes an elevated, fluid impervious surface upon which items to be washed are placed for washing. The surface is configured to cause wash fluid to flow to an edge of the surface and off of the surface to prevent buildup of wash fluid on the surface. A collecting trough is positioned in fluid flow communication with the edges of the surface to which the fluid flows to catch and collect the fluid as it flows from the surface. Used wash fluid is taken from the collecting trough for disposal or recycling and solids and debris can be easily removed from the trough.
Abstract:
A histological specimen retaining device for processing tissue. The histological specimen retaining device comprises a foldable permeable sheet having edges and a permeable target disposed on the foldable permeable sheet within the edges of said sheet thereby providing extended flap portions. The extended flap portions are foldable to overlap the target. The histological specimen retaining device also comprises a malleable securing strip attached to the permeable sheet of a length sufficient to secure said folded flap portions overlapping said target.
Abstract:
A respiratory mask provides improved sealing through the use of an intraoral mouthpiece with a large sealing area. A tubular extension, configured at one end to accept standard respiratory fittings, is the conduit for gas delivery to the intraoral mouthpiece. The respiratory mask may also include an intraoral oropharyngeal airway which flexes so that it can be inserted without the need for rotation or use of a tongue blade. The respiratory mask may also include an external shield to enhance sealing and provide a barrier of protection for the healthcare provider. The mask's design allows for a novel handgrip technique that allows a single healthcare provider to ventilate with enhanced sealing.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for monitoring resource utilization within a connection oriented switch. An operator defines a utilization threshold in terms of percentage of maximum capacity, and a connection resource tracker determines whether utilization of specified resources within the switch have exceeded this threshold. The switch then either sends a report to the operator identifying all such resources, or generates an alarm, revealing sources of congestion within the switch without requiring the operator to manually query each resource. The method and apparatus can alternatively be used to monitor for underutilization of resources. The method and apparatus allow rapid diagnostic and simplified monitoring of connection oriented switches.
Abstract:
A marking yarn for selective use in formation of a textile fabric, such as a tubular pantyhose blank, comprises an elongate strand-like yarn base formed of a water-soluble material and at least partially coated with a material which is detectible by an ultraviolet sensor. When the marking yarn is included in the textile fabric, e.g., by knitting one or more courses of the marking yarn in plated relation with the body yarn of the hosiery blank, the yarn effectively designates a predetermined location in the fabric of the hosiery blank which can be subsequently detected by an ultraviolet sensor in the sewing of the hosiery blank into a pantyhose garment. In subsequent wet processing of the garment, e.g., dyeing, the marking yarn dissolves, thereby removing it from the fabric and liberating the coating material.
Abstract:
A system for safely recharging and charging electrically powered vehicles, including hybrid powered vehicles, includes an electrical charging station for connecting the vehicles to a source of Ground Fault Protected electrical power, an authorization device for permitting an operator of the vehicle to utilize a secure electronic content distributor. The system also includes a metering system for recording the amount of electrical power or electricity utilized to charge or recharge the vehicle. A cover is hinged to the charging station and includes an aperture sized to secure said power cord to said electrical connection output. A locking pin assembly secures the cover in a closed position while said position indicator is engaged and maintains the cover in a closed position until an authorization to release the cover is received.
Abstract:
A tissue cassette for use during histological examination of tissue preferably comprises a receptale and a lid. The lid is preferably pivotally attached to the receptacle about a pivot axis. The cavity preferably has a maximum width measurable anywhere parallel to the pivot axis that is greater than its maximum length measurable in any plane perpendicular to the pivot axis. The lid preferably has a maximum width measurable anywhere parallel to the pivot axis that is greater than its length measurable in a plane that bisects the maximum width of the lid and is perpendicular to the pivot axis. The cassette, with its lid closed against the receptacle, preferably has a maximum width measurable anywhere parallel to the pivot axis that is less than the maximum length of the cassette measurable in any plane perpendicular to the pivot axis. Also, a method for using two histological specimen cassettes is disclosed.
