Abstract:
A machine for making building blocks from compactible materials such as earth, in a rapid and facile manner. A mold is provided in which the blocks of desired configuration, typically rectangular, are formed. A hydraulic ram, assisted by a pressure intensifier, is utilized to exert tremendously high pressures on the compactible material in the mold so that the particles of the materials are substantially bonded together to produce a solid block.
Abstract:
A device for enhancing the fastening of the top button of a dress shirt comprises a latch member having a tab portion and a hook portion. The tab portion is adapted to be sewn to the button hole placket at the top of the shirt so that the hook portion may engage the top button.
Abstract:
A piston/piston rod assembly wherein a piston is secured to a piston rod, and a sleeve (shell) is secured around the piston rod at predetermined locations along the length of the piston rod. The shell may be removably mounted and made of a harder, heavier material than the piston rod. Segmental sealing rings are provided around the periphery of the piston.
Abstract:
A linear movable apparatus for imparting rotational movement to a turntable is provided. The turntable is secured to a rotatably mounted shaft having a ring gear thereon for meshed engagement with gear teeth provided on a piston rod which extends between a pair of pistons. Each piston is reciprocally carried in aligned cylinder housings mounted in a support structure. An adjustable mechanism is provided for retaining the piston rod in snug-fitting relation with the ring gear, and a bracket assembly is secured around the ring gear to support the adjustable mechanism against the ring gear.
Abstract:
A high volume pressure valve accurately adjustable to within 0.25 PSIG for attachment to a pipe outlet. A flanged valve body and a cap are connected by a compression spring to permit the opening of the valve when the predetermined outlet pressure setting of the valve is exceeded.
Abstract:
A fluid actuator system disposed for internally increasing fluid pressure therein. The system includes a first fluid actuator including a cylinder provided with a first axial bore having a first piston and piston rod reciprocally mounted therein. The first cylinder is provided with first and second inlet and outlet fluid passages communicating into the first axial bore for directing fluid in and out of the first axial bore. A second fluid actuator is provided which has a cylinder provided with a second axial bore having a second piston and piston rod reciprocally mounted therein. The second cylinder is provided with third and fourth inlet and outlet fluid passages communicating into the second axial bore for directing fluid in and out of the second axial. An end closure assembly common to the first and second cylinders for sealing one end of each of the cylinder is provided. The end closure assembly includes structure therein for internally increasing fluid pressure of the fluid actuator system.
Abstract:
A piston/piston rod assembly. The piston is an annular member which is provided with a longitudinal bore therethrough having internal threads therein. A transverse opening is provided through the piston. The piston rod is provided with a threaded end for threaded engagement with the threaded portion of the piston. A transverse opening is provided through the piston rod. A pin is seated in the transverse openings of the piston and piston rod, responsive to assembly of the piston and piston rod, to retain the piston securely on the piston rod. The transverse openings are disposed to retain the pin therein to prevent movement of the piston on the piston rod, but yet allow a certain amount of adjustment of the piston relative to the piston rod during the assembly thereof.
Abstract:
A fluid actuator having a housing (cylinder) which encloses a piston actuated piston rod having at least one end extending through an opening in an end cylinder closure member secured in at least one end of the cylinder. The closure member is insertable into at least one end of the cylinder for sealing engagement therewith and is provided with a tapered seat which abuts against a similarly tapered seat provided in the cylinder to provide a metal-to-metal seal which also serves as an alignment mechanism for the extending piston rod.
Abstract:
A linear braking mechanism for fluid actuators defined by a cylinder enclosing a cavity having a piston/piston rod assembly reciprocally mounted therein. The braking mechanism includes a spring biased body which is disposed for engaging and retarding the movement of the piston as it nears the end of its travel. A pressure equalizing metering port is provided in the body of the braking mechanism to equalize pressure on opposite sides of the spring biased body.
Abstract:
A pump assembly wherein fluid under pressure in a pump housing is prevented from escaping around the drive shaft of the pump by a seal which is held in place by the combination of a spring and fluid pressure applied through a diaphragm or piston from the interior of the pump housing.
