Abstract: The present disclosure includes a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system having a control system suitable to control operation of a device in the HVAC system. The control system may include a zone control panel that may control operation of the device using power-line communication. Accordingly, the zone control panel and the device may be both communicatively and electrically coupled via one or more power lines. To that end, the zone control panel may determine a primary address identifying the device and/or a secondary address indicating the one or more power lines electrically coupled to the device. Further, the zone control panel may communicate with and/or coordinate operation of the device by transmitting data messages to the device via the one or more power lines based on the primary address and/or the secondary address.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a controller associated with a residence. The controller is configured to determine an expected value range for an operating parameter of a component of the HVAC system. Additionally, the controller is configured to receive a signal from a sensor indicative of a current value of the operating parameter of the component and determine if the current value of the operating parameter is outside the expected value range. Based on the determination that the current value is outside the expected value range, the controller is additionally configured to initiate a diagnostic mode of the controller. In the diagnostic mode, the controller is configured to collect diagnostic data associated with the HVAC system.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a sensor configured to detect an operating parameter of the HVAC system, a processor, and a memory having instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor, during a normal operation mode of the HVAC system, to iteratively receive feedback from the sensor indicative of a value of the operating parameter, compare the value with reference data, and determine a refrigerant charge level of the HVAC system based on the value and the reference data.

Abstract: A climate management system includes a controller configured to receive an input indicative of an airflow rate setpoint for each zone of a plurality of zones of the climate management system. The controller is further configured to determine a respective airflow rate adjustment for each airflow rate setpoint and adjust each airflow rate setpoint based on the respective airflow rate adjustment to determine a respective adjusted airflow rate for each zone of the plurality of zones, where the respective airflow rate adjustment for each zone of the plurality of zones is based on a current annual season of a plurality of annual seasons.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system may include a HVAC unit that may control air flow, a first control system that may directly control operation of equipment in the HVAC unit, and a second control system communicatively coupled to the first control system. The second control system may be located in a different zone of a building as compared to the first control system, such that the second control system may receive a request to adjust the air flow output by the HVAC unit and send a command to the first control system based on the request. The command may cause the first control system to adjust the operation of the equipment in the HVAC unit to cause the air flow output by the HVAC unit to be adjusted according to the request.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and methods for dynamically generating and/or displaying a barcode for installing a thermostat. The dynamically generated barcode may indicate information related to a registering a warranty for the thermostat, conditioned air equipment information, and the like. The thermostat includes conditioned air equipment determination logic that determines conditioned air equipment. The thermostat also includes barcode generation logic that dynamically generates the barcode based on the conditioned air equipment. Authorized service personnel may scan the barcode with a mobile device and pair the mobile device with the thermostat based on information received via scanning of the barcode. To that end, the disclosed systems and methods may dynamically generate the barcode used to pair the thermostat with the mobile device, along with providing additional information relevant to installing the thermostat.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and methods that facilitate quickly and conveniently addressing faults experienced by conditioned air equipment by dynamically generating a barcode on a thermostat. In some embodiments, the thermostat includes fault determination logic that determines that the conditioned air equipment is experiencing a fault and barcode generation logic that generates a barcode based on the fault. The authorized service personnel may scan the barcode using a mobile device and receive information about the fault. In this manner, the dynamically generated barcode may be used to quickly and conveniently address faults of the conditioned air equipment, repair the conditioned air equipment, perform maintenance on the conditioned air equipment, and the like.
