Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes processing circuitry configured to receive a plurality of air flow rates, in which each air flow rate of the plurality of air flow rates is associated with a zone of a plurality of zones of the HVAC system, determine a sum of the plurality of air flow rates is outside of a threshold range around a total output air flow rate, and, in response to determining the sum of the plurality of air flow rates is outside of the threshold range around the total output air flow rate, adjust an air flow rate of the plurality of air flow rates based on a comparison between the sum of the plurality of air flow rates and the total output air flow rate.

Abstract: A thermostat for a building space. The thermostat includes a user interface and a processing circuit. The user interface is configured to serve notifications to a user and receive input from the user. The communications interface is configured to perform bidirectional data communications with HVAC equipment controlled by the thermostat. The communications interface is configured to receive performance information for the HVAC equipment. The processing circuit is configured to provide control signals to the HVAC equipment to achieve a setpoint for the building space. The processing circuit is further configured to evaluate the performance information for the HVAC equipment to determine a recommendation for improving HVAC equipment performance. The processing circuit is further configured to automatically adjust at least one of the setpoint and the control signals provided to the HVAC equipment based on the recommendation for improving HVAC equipment performance.

Abstract: A configuration management system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a controller having a memory storing a baseline configuration of the HVAC system. The baseline configuration of the HVAC system indicates that the HVAC system is an air conditioning system or a heat pump system. Additionally, the controller is configured to determine a current configuration of the HVAC system based on detecting whether a reversing valve is present in the HVAC system. The current configuration of the HVAC system includes an air conditioning system configuration or a heat pump system configuration. The controller is also configured to perform a control action in response to determining that the current configuration is different than the baseline configuration.

The control system further includes a controller configured to receive a first input via the zone management screen to adjust the first temperature set point or to adjust the second temperature set point, and receive a second input via the zone management screen to adjust the first operating mode or to adjust the second operating mode.

Abstract: A system for heating a building via refrigerant includes a coil temperature sensor, an ambient temperature sensor, and a controller. The controller includes a processing circuit configured to record a system operating parameter and a control step of a control process before performing a sacrificial defrost cycle. The processing circuit is configured to cause the system to perform the sacrificial defrost cycle and operate the system at predefined system operating parameters other than the recorded system operating parameters. The system is configured to cause the system to operate at the recorded system operating parameters and generate calibration data in response to the sacrificial defrost cycle ending. The processing circuit is configured to cause the control process to operate at the recorded control step and cause the system to perform a defrost cycle based on the calibration data, the coil temperature, and the ambient temperature.

Abstract: Presently disclosed is a fault condition management system of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The system includes a controller having a user interface with a display and a lockout status indicator. The controller is configured to determine that the HVAC system is in a plurality of fault conditions and to individually present, on the display of the user interface, a respective fault code corresponding to each respective fault condition of the plurality of fault conditions in a repeating loop. Each respective fault code is presented for a fault code presentation duration followed by a rest duration. The controller is configured to control illumination of the lockout status indicator during the fault code presentation duration of each respective fault code to indicate a respective lockout status of the corresponding respective fault condition.

Abstract: A system for performing software updates for building devices of a building includes a thermostat associated with one of multiple zones of the building and a controller. The controller includes a processing circuit configured to store thermostat software in a memory device of the processing circuit, the stored software being software for the thermostat and determine, by communicating with the thermostat, whether thermostat software run on the thermostat is newer or older than the thermostat software stored in the memory device. The processing circuit is configured to update the thermostat software run on the thermostat with the thermostat software stored in the memory device in response to a determination that the thermostat software run on the thermostat is older than the thermostat software stored in the memory device and operate building equipment to control an environmental condition of the building.

Abstract: A thermostat includes a memory configured to store operating conditions for previously run conditioning events. The thermostat further includes a controller configured to receive first temperature data from a first temperature sensor indicative of a current indoor ambient temperature inside; receive second temperature data from a second temperature sensor indicative of a current outdoor ambient temperature outside; receive a temperature setpoint for a desired indoor ambient temperature of the building; determine a severity of a call for conditioning based on at least one of the current indoor ambient temperature, the current outdoor ambient temperature, and the temperature setpoint; and operate the multi-stage HVAC system in one of the plurality of stages for a current conditioning event based on the severity of the call for conditioning and the operating conditions for a similar previously run conditioning event to drive the current indoor ambient temperature towards the temperature setpoint.
