摘要: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus includes: a transmitting section for driving an ultrasonic probe sending out an ultrasonic transmitted wave toward a body tissue of an organism; a receiving section for receiving an ultrasonic reflected wave, produced by getting the transmitted wave reflected by the body tissue, through the probe; a phase detecting section for detecting the phase of the reflected wave; and a computing section for calculating the magnitudes of positional displacement at multiple measuring points on the body tissue based on a signal obtained by the detecting section and calculating the greatest thickness difference between two of the measuring points and/or an elastic property based on the magnitudes of positional displacement. The computing section calculates the maximum and minimum thicknesses or thickness variations between the two points based on the magnitudes of positional displacement at the two points during a part of one cardiac cycle, and calculates the greatest thickness difference and/or elastic property as the difference between the maximum and minimum values.

摘要: A method and device to accurately obtain very small quantity of wear of the order of nanometers of a protective film on the surface of a sliding member. A quantity of wear on the surface of a measurement sample including a base and a coating layer is measured by making a spectrum of the surface elements in a reference sample using a surface-element analysis device which analyzes elements on the surface of a substance from an energy spectrum of charged particles obtained by applying excited ionization radiation on the reference sample equivalent to the measurement and by measuring charged particles generated from the surface of the substance. A step of obtaining signal intensity ratios of plural elements from the spectrum is repeated a plurality of times while the surface of the reference sample is being etched and calibration curves which indicate a distribution of the signal intensity ratios of the plural elements in the reference sample are made. Subsequently, an energy spectrum of charged particles from the surface of the measurement sample is measured, signal intensity ratios of specific elements are calculated and compared with the calibration curves to determine a quantity of wear of the measurement sample.

摘要: After forming domain inverted layers 3 in an LiTaO3 substrate 1, an optical waveguide is formed. By performing low-temperature annealing for the optical wavelength conversion element thus formed, a stable proton exchange layer 8 is formed, where an increase in refractive index generated during high-temperature annealing is lowered, thereby providing a stable optical wavelength conversion element. Thus, the phase-matched wavelength becomes constant, and variation in harmonic wave output is eliminated. Consequently, with respect to an optical wavelength conversion element utilizing a nonlinear optical effect, a highly reliable element is provided.
