    摘要: Provided are a method and an apparatus for optically extracting a clock signal, that can be realized at low costs while minimizing an influence by input patterns and noises. In the method, optical signals having predetermined wavelength components are extracted using two FBG filters in order to extract a clock component from an input optical signal. After that, an influence by input filters is minimized by passing the extracted optical signals having the predetermined wavelengths through a Fabry-Perot filter.

    摘要: Provided is an apparatus and method for all-optically controlling both a gain and a gain flattening. The apparatus includes: a first amplifier automatically controlling a gain of the apparatus through a feedback loop while amplifying a received optical signal; a fixed gain flattening unit receiving the amplified optical signal from the first amplifier and compensating for the gain according to a wavelength of the received optical signal; and a second amplifier automatically controlling the gain through a feedback loop while amplifying the optical signal input from the fixed gain flattening unit. Accordingly, even if the number of channels of an input WDM optical signal varies, both of a gain and a gain flattening can be all-optically controlled.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for extracting an optical clock signal are provided. The apparatus includes a first reflection filter selecting and reflecting only a first frequency component in an input optical signal; a first Fabry-Perot laser diode matching the first frequency component reflected by the first reflection filter with a predetermined output mode and outputting the first frequency component in the predetermined output mode; a second Fabry-Perot laser diode selecting a second frequency component in an input optical signal that has not been reflected but has been transmitted by the first reflection filter, matching the second frequency component with a predetermined output mode, and outputting the second frequency component in the predetermined output mode; and a photodetector receiving the first frequency component from the first Fabry-Perot laser diode and the second frequency component from the second Fabry-Perot laser diode and beating them to extract a clock signal. Accordingly, the optical clock signal can be extracted with low influence of the pattern of the input optical signal and an improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a variable length packet switching system. The variable length packet switching system includes at least two switching means, a plurality of multiplexing units and a plurality of demultiplexing units. The switching means switch ATM cells or variable length packet data in parallel. The multiplexing means are arranged upstream of the switching means for multiplexing data inputted from a line card to the switching means in packet units and dividing a packet into packets of a number corresponding to the number of the switching means. The demultiplexing means are arranged downstream of the switching means for combining packets inputted after being switched in parallel by the at least two switching means and outputting the combined packet converted into a format adequate to the line card.

    摘要: The present invention provides a cross-gain modulation type optical wavelength converter having a high extinction ratio and a wide input dynamic range, which is capable of preventing an extinction ratio from lowering and allowing an input dynamic range to widen. The XGM type optical wavelength converter of the present invention allows a probe light to be cross-gain modulated by a pump light one more time using two SOAs, and allows the width of the modulation of the probe light to be further broadened, thereby improving the extinction ratio after wavelength conversion. Simultaneously, the XGM type optical wavelength converter detects the intensity of an optical signal inputted to the optical wavelength converter and automatically controls the intensity of the probe light on the basis of the detected intensity of the input optical signal, thereby providing a wide input dynamic range.
