A laser system generates read, green and blue beams from a single laser beam generated by an IR continuous-wave laser using rare-earth or transition elements. Semiconductor diodes are used to excite IR continuous-wave laser and simple passive non-linear frequency conversion is used to generate the red, green and blue effective beams.

A device for the recognition and directional detection of optical radiation, especially laser radiation, i.e., a so-called laser warning sensor. The laser warning sensor comprises several optical input systems to which a light guide path leading to a detector is assigned. In the individual light guide paths, polarizing devices for the linear polarization of the incident optical radiation are provided which determine for each light guide path at its end facing the detector, a specific direction of polarization which is different from the direction of polarization of the other light guide paths. The radiation leaving the ends of the light guide paths combined in a bundle is conducted to a detector designed as a polarimeter. From the direction of polarization determined in the polarimeter, the direction of the incident laser radiation is determined in an evaluation circuit.

The use of a holographic video screen which appears black, gray or colored in ambient light as the display surface in a vehicle, wherein a driver can view the screen while driving without taking his eyes of the road. Additionally, the display system containing such a video screen permits the projection and viewing of multiple images on a single screen.
Abstract:
A method for suppressing image speckles in a holographic screen is provided in which the screen is illuminated in the hologram in a plurality of individual steps, changing the recording parameters at each step. As a result, a holographic screen is obtained that produces a speckle-free image from a hologram recorded with lasers and then illuminated by a laser. Depending on the application, the object screen can be recorded as a reflection or transmission hologram.

An apparatus for recording the exterior retina reflex image of the human eye, has a scanning recorder. The beams of the exterior images pass through the spectacle glasses constructed on the inner side as vaulted, imaging, beam splitting mirrors. The scanning recorder for recording and detouring the parallel beam bundles exiting from the eye after backscattering by each spot on the retina, is a biaxial scanner. An opto-electronic detector receives the light bundles from the biaxial scanner for serial recording of the retina reflex image.

The invention concerns a diode-pumped solid-state ring laser gyroscope consisting of a diode-pumped solid-state laser made from a doped crystal or glass in the form of a square or cube for monoaxial or triaxial measurements; limitation and stabilization of the laser mode is achieved by precise matching of the pumping radiation to the mode volume of the ring laser. Outcoupling of the laser radiation is done by making the light tunnel through a slit to a dielectric plate which is moved by an actuator. Frequency modulation of the signal is done as required by coupling an acoustic wave into the laser medium or by precise spatial modulation of the diode excitation.

A method and system is used for detecting the presence of measuring the distance to and producing an image of, objects which, while being strongly absorbing or reflecting themselves, are hid from sight in a medium which is strongly dampening due to light dispersion, such as submersed submarines. The method provides, in addition to detecting the reflection from the surface of the object, a full acquisition of the variation of the backscatter of scanning laser pulses by the medium surrounding the object, with laser pulse transmitters operating with a much larger pulse duration, being usable for this purpose.

An imaging system for motor vehicles has a holographic screen, which scatters incident narrow band light at a predetermined solid angle, and a modulator and a lens to project images on the holographic screen. A holographic, transparent ray uniter, which allows broad band ambient light to pass through essentially unimpeded, guides the narrow band light, coming from the holographic screen to the viewer, whereby a virtual image is produced at the viewing location by means of an imaging function. Images from the outside of the motor vehicle are shot by means of a camera system and are faded as virtual images into the windshield of the motor vehicle in order to enable there additionally a view to the rear or to the side.

A system for stereoscopic image display includes a projection device (2) with modulators (21, 22) and a polarization splitter prism (3) for the projection of images with differing perspectives each with differing polarization directions. A holographic screen (1) has a grid structure that corresponds to a hologram recording of actual screens with differing polarization directions. The incident light beams (A, B) have the effect that two differently polarized images are generated on the holographic screen (1), where said images can be perceived separately by the left and the right eye by using eyeglasses (5) with polarization filters.
Abstract:
A method for the elimination of image speckles in a scanning laser projection is suggested, in which a phase hologram is used for dividing the illumination beam of the projector into partial beams. The partial beams are heterodyned again on the image screen within the image element (pixels) to be projected in such a way that differing speckle patterns are formed which average each other out in the eye of the viewer over time and/or space. Thus, a device is provided especially for the laser projection which substantially eliminates or reduces the speckles at the viewer. However, the beam form and the beam density are hardly or not changed.
