Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for providing UE EPS capability information and receiving non-access stratum (NAS) security algorithm information for an interworking procedure in the 5GS network. In one novel aspect, the UE provides the UE EPS capability information in cleartext before the security mode procedure, and the NAS security algorithm information is included in a security mode command message during the security mode procedure. In one embodiment, the UE EPS capability information is an S1 mode indicator or the 5GMM capability information including the Si mode indicator. In another novel aspect, the network provides the NAS security algorithm information before interworking procedure from 5GS to LTE. In one embodiment, the network provides the NAS security algorithm information in the Registration Accept message. In another embodiment, the network provides the NAS security algorithm information in handover procedure from the 5GS to LTE.
Abstract:
A method for enhancing User Equipment (UE) handling of Non-Access Stratum (NAS) signaling connection release is provided. A UE establishes a NAS signaling connection with a mobile communication network belonging to a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN). The UE receives a NAS message including a Closed Access Group (CAG) information list from the mobile communication network while camping on a CAG cell. The UE starts a timer in response to determining that no entry for the current PLMN is included in the received CAG information list. The UE locally releases the established NAS signaling connection upon expiry of the timer.
Abstract:
A method for 5G Session Management (5GSM) handling of network rejection not due to congestion control is provided. A User Equipment (UE) receives a 5GSM reject message from a mobile communication network. The 5GSM reject message indicates a network rejection not due to congestion control. The UE associates a back-off timer with a Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN) Single-Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI). The UE prevents itself from sending a 5GSM request message for the same HPLMN S-NSSAI that is associated with the back-off timer.
Abstract:
A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first service network utilizing a first RAT or a second service network utilizing a second RAT. The controller sends an indicator of a connection release request to the first service network via the wireless transceiver in response to terminating a first communication service with the first service network or in response to leaving the first service network for the second service network. Also, the controller releases a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection with the first service network after sending the indicator of the connection release request.
Abstract:
A method can include receiving a “create new evolved packet system (EPS) bearer” operation code in a mapped EPS bearer contexts information element (TB) in a first protocol data unit (PDU) session modification command message for creating a mapped EPS bearer context at a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, and when there is neither a quality of service (QoS) flow descriptions IE in the first PDU session modification command message indicating a QoS flow description corresponding to an EPS bearer identity (EBI) in the mapped EPS bearer context, nor an existing QoS flow description at the UE corresponding to the EBI included in the mapped EPS bearer context, sending a PDU session modification request message including a mapped EPS bearer contexts IE to delete the mapped EPS bearer context.
Abstract:
A method, executed by a SUPL (Secure User Plane Location) Enabled Terminal (SET), is provided. The method includes the steps of: sending an INVITE request for an emergency call to a Call Session Control Function (CSCF) entity of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS); and receiving a response to the INVITE request from the CSCF entity, wherein the response includes an SUPL INIT message.
Abstract:
A mobile communication device including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a first network supporting only Packet-Switched (PS) services or a second network supporting Circuit-Switched (CS) services. The controller receives a rejection message of a Tracking Area Updating (TAU) procedure from the first network via the wireless transceiver when a Circuit Switch Fallback (CSFB)-related call originated from or terminated to the mobile communication device is pending, determines whether the rejection message includes a predetermined rejection cause, and in response to the rejection message including the predetermined rejection cause, selects the second network to make the CSFB-related call via the wireless transceiver without re-attaching to the first network.
Abstract:
A method of for performing carbon neutralization in a communication network is provided. The method includes receiving a service task from a user equipment. The method also includes obtaining a carbon neutralization calculation parameter related to performing the received service task. The method further includes selecting, based on the obtained carbon neutralization calculation parameter, a target entity from a plurality of candidate targets at which the received service task can be performed. The method further includes sending the received service task to the selected target entity.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure provide a method of checking errors in parameters configured to a user equipment (UE). The method can include receiving at the UE a quality of service (QoS) rule related IE or the QoS flow description related IE for modifying or creating a QoS rule or a QoS flow description associated with an evolved packet system (EPS) bearer context of a packet data network (PDN) connection. The PDN connection can have a default EPS bearer context and optionally a dedicated EPS bearer context. It is determined whether the default EPS bearer context of the PDN connection is associated with a default QoS rule. When it is determined that the default EPS bearer context of the PDN connection is not associated with the default QoS rule, an error handling operation is performed.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure can provide an apparatus and method for voice domain selection (VDS). A processing circuitry of user equipment (UE) is configured to receive an indication that an internet protocol (IP) multimedia core network subsystem (IMS) voice is unsupported over a 3GPP access, but is supported over a non-3GPP access in a first communication system. Then, the processing circuitry is configured to register to an IMS via the non-3GPP access in the first communication system and perform an IMS voice service over the non-3GPP access in the first communication system. The processing circuitry of the UE is further configured to switch to a second communication system when voice domain management (VDM) is set to the second communication system. After registering to the first communication system using a non-3GPP access, and registering to the IMS via the non-3GPP access in the first communication system, the processing circuitry of the UE can be configured to switch back to the first communication system from the second communication system.
