Abstract:
An improved seal assembly for an articulating camera (102) is provided in a communication device (100). The articulating camera (102) a coiled flex circuit (208) and pivot housing (110). The coiled flex circuit (208) provides for range of motion. The coiled flex circuit (208) has a flex extension (218) that threads through a barrel hinge (214) of the pivot housing (110). The barrel hinge (214) and flex extension (218) are sealed via a single seal (306) having a circumferential seal (312) and pocket (308) thereby allowing the coiled flex circuit (208) to continue to provide range of rotation within the pivot housing (110).
Abstract:
Communication device with configurable antenna interface and method for configuring an antenna interface. One implementation of the communication device includes an RF transceiver, a threaded coaxial antenna connector, a first RF terminal, a second RF terminal, an RF signal conduit, and an interface circuit. The threaded coaxial antenna connector includes inner and outer terminals. The RF signal conduit includes a first structure that couples the first RF terminal to the inner terminal of the threaded coaxial antenna connector. The RF signal conduit further includes a second structure that couples the second RF terminal to the outer terminal of the threaded coaxial antenna connector. The interface circuit is configured to set an SMA antenna interface mode by coupling the RF transceiver to the first RF terminal. The interface circuit is also configured to set a ferrule antenna interface mode by coupling the RF transceiver to the second RF terminal.
Abstract:
A portable communication device (200) provides a remote speaker microphone (RSM) (204) that is adaptable to a plurality of interchangeable bridge interface modules. The plurality of interchangeable bridge interface modules may comprise interchangeable camera (212), (218) and non-camera (220) bridge interface modules that couple between the RSM (204) and a power source (208). The power source (208) may also be interchangeable via a portable battery (212) or corded power module (214). The portable communication device is shoulder mountable and well suited to portable public safety applications.
Abstract:
A removable cartridge for a portable communication device. The removable cartridge includes frame having a first surface, and an opposite second surface. The second surface is non-planar and is shaped to conform to a shape of a speaker cone in the portable communications device. The removable cartridge also includes a membrane coupled to the first surface of the frame. A portion of the membrane is suspended over an open gap defined by the frame.
Abstract:
An improved touch panel assembly (100) is provided. The touch panel assembly (100) comprises a bezel (102), a display (104), a touch panel (108), and a glass lens (110). The assembly (100) is formed to so that the touch panel (108) has a touch panel extension (112) extending beyond the glass lens (110). The touch panel extension (112) allows for a bumper (204) to edge mount to the glass lens (110) between the housing (202) and the module (100) and cover the touch panel extension (112) and sides of the assembly (100).
Abstract:
A microphone porting and venting assembly (100) is formed of a remote support substrate (118) providing a (130) acoustically resistive element with dedicated venting cavities (132) along with an external baffle (220) providing acoustic channels (212, 214, 216) which further provide water drainage and external sound sampling points (222, 224, 226). The microphone porting and venting assembly (100) is well suited waterproof, noise cancelling microphone systems.

Abstract:
An electrical contact pin for a printed circuit board. The electrical contact pin includes a first cylindrical portion having a first diameter and a second cylindrical portion extending from the first cylindrical portion. The second cylindrical portion has a second diameter larger than the first diameter. The second cylindrical portion includes a ledge configured to press against a wall of a printed circuit board. The second cylindrical portion further includes a groove configured to receive a sealing material.
