    Abstract: Communication device with configurable antenna interface and method for configuring an antenna interface. One implementation of the communication device includes an RF transceiver, a threaded coaxial antenna connector, a first RF terminal, a second RF terminal, an RF signal conduit, and an interface circuit. The threaded coaxial antenna connector includes inner and outer terminals. The RF signal conduit includes a first structure that couples the first RF terminal to the inner terminal of the threaded coaxial antenna connector. The RF signal conduit further includes a second structure that couples the second RF terminal to the outer terminal of the threaded coaxial antenna connector. The interface circuit is configured to set an SMA antenna interface mode by coupling the RF transceiver to the first RF terminal. The interface circuit is also configured to set a ferrule antenna interface mode by coupling the RF transceiver to the second RF terminal.

    Abstract: A connector (200) provides improved robustness and strength with a header (202) configured to retain and expose a plurality of receptacles (204). The exposed portion of each receptacle provides a surface mount solderable element as part of the overall connector. Another embodiment further provides a lead (208) extending from the exposed portion of the receptacle to provide an additional leaded solderable element to the connector. Thus, the connector can provide both surface mount capability and/or a combination of surface mount and lead mount capability. The exposed portions of the receptacles may be soldered flush to a board (302), thus minimizing z-height of the connector to the board and allowing for a larger sized diameter receptacle.

    Abstract: A sealing system for sealing an electronics housing includes, in one example, a one-piece sealing member that seals the perimeter surface of an electronics substrate disposed within the electronics housing. The one-piece sealing member includes a perimeter seal portion that engages the perimeter substrate, a first seal portion that engages a first substrate surface and a second seal portion that engages a second substrate surface of the electronics substrate. The one-piece sealing member also includes a pocket that engages and seals an input and output component adjacent to the electronics substrate, such as an audio connector or Universal Serial Bus connector. The perimeter seal portion of the one-piece sealing member may also include a translucent section that allows light from a light emitting diode to be emitted through the one-piece sealing member.

    Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for external accessory knob using a motion tracking device are disclosed. A portable electronic device may include a housing including a processor coupled to a memory and a motion tracking device. The external accessory knob may be mounted to the housing and may comprise a position holding mechanism. The motion tracking device may be operable to detect perturbation in at least one feedback parameter perturbed by movement of the external accessory knob. The movement may overcome opposition by the position holding mechanism. The processor may receive and compare the perturbed feedback parameter to a motion profile defined by data stored in the memory to identify a characteristic of the movement of the external accessory knob by matching the perturbed feedback parameter with at least one portion of the stored data defining the motion profile associated with known perturbations.
