Abstract:
Systems, apparatus, methods and non-transitory computer readable media facilitating telemetry data communication security between an implantable device and an external clinician device are provided. An implantable device can include a security component configured to generate security information based on reception of a clinician telemetry session request from the clinician device via a first telemetry communication protocol. The security information can include a session identifier and a first session key, and the clinician telemetry session request can include a clinician device identifier associated with the clinician device. The implantable device can further include a communication component configured to establish a clinician telemetry session with the clinician device using a second telemetry communication protocol based on determining that a connection request, received via the second telemetry communication protocol, was transmitted by the clinician device based on inclusion of the clinician device in the connection request.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes systems, devices and techniques for improving the longevity of battery life in a device. An example first device includes communication circuitry configured to communicate with a second device and processing circuitry configured to determine an expected amount of data to be transmitted by the second device to the first device. The processing circuitry is configured to determine that the expected amount of data to be transmitted by the second device to the first device is greater than or equal to a predetermined data threshold and based on the expected amount of data to be transmitted being greater than or equal to the predetermined data threshold, determine that a predetermined restriction is met. The processing circuitry is configured to, based on the predetermined restriction being met, control the communication circuitry to transmit an instruction to the second device.
Abstract:
An apparatus for providing an accurate estimate of remaining runtime of a battery is described. The apparatus comprises a fuel gauge and processing circuitry coupled to the fuel gauge. The processing circuitry can receive an indicator of remaining battery capacity from the fuel gauge. The processing circuitry can calculate remaining battery energy based on the remaining battery capacity and further based on an amount of power expected to be used by a battery load during an expected alarm time. The processing circuitry can calculate remaining runtime based on the remaining battery energy. A method and system are also described.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media that facilitate monitoring the integrity of telemetry connectivity between an implantable device and an external device are provided. In one embodiment, an implantable device includes a monitoring component that monitors advertisement signal information identifying an amount of advertisement signals transmitted to the external device within a defined time period, and telemetry session information identifying an amount of the telemetry sessions that are established between the external device and the implantable device within the defined time period. A connectivity assessment component of the implantable device further determines whether a telemetry connectivity problem exists between the external device and the implantable device based on a degree of miscorrelation between the advertisement signal information and the telemetry session information.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media facilitating telemetry overuse reduction in an implantable medical device (“IMD”) are provided. In one embodiment, an IMD includes a housing configured to be implanted at least partially within a patient, a memory and circuitry within the housing and a processor that executes executable components stored in the memory. The executable components include: a communication component configured to establish a telemetry connection with an external device to communicate data associated with sensed physiological data or therapy; and an authorization component configured to determine whether the external device is authorized to communicate with the IMD, wherein the communication component is further configured to disable the telemetry connection with the external device and prevent additional communication with the external device for a defined period of time based on a determination that the external device fails to be authorized to communicate with the IMD.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media facilitating trusted pairing between an implantable medical device (IMD) and an external device are provided. In one embodiment, an IMD includes a housing configured to be implanted within a patient, a memory and circuitry within the housing and a processor that executes executable components stored in the memory. The executable components can include: a communication component configured to initiate establishing a telemetry connection with an external device in accordance with a first telemetry protocol based on reception of a request, from the external device, to establish the telemetry connection with the IMD using the first telemetry protocol; and a validation component configured to restrict establishment of the telemetry connection with the external device in accordance with the first telemetry protocol based on reception of validation information from the external device, wherein provision of the validation information is excluded from the first telemetry protocol.

Abstract:
Techniques for facilitating communication between an implantable device and an external device are provided. In one example, an implantable device includes a data packet component and a communication component. The data packet component can insert information associated with the implantable device in a defined service field of an advertising data packet. The defined service field can be selected from one or more service fields of the advertising data packet based on the information associated with the implantable device. The communication component can transmit the advertising data packet. The external device can include a scanning component that can scan one or more service fields of the advertising data packet via an advertising communication channel, and a communication component that can establish a communication link with the implantable device in response to a determination that a criterion associated with a service field is satisfied.
