    摘要: A liquid crystal element of optical writing type includes a pair of transparent substrates respectively having electrodes formed on the overall surfaces thereof. The liquid crystal element also includes a photoconductive layer formed on one of the transparent substrates and having a back-to-back diode structure, which impedance is to be changed depending on an amount of incident light. The liquid crystal element further includes a mirror layer for reflecting light entered from the other side of a writing side of the photoconductive layer, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pair of transparent substrates.

The discharge reed valve includes a fixed portion, an intermediate portion, and a valve portion. The fixing surface includes a first groove portion, which extends around the discharge port, and a valve seat surface, which is arranged between the discharge port and the first groove portion. The first groove portion extends to a range overlapped with the intermediate portion. A part of the valve portion at a distal side does not close the first groove portion. The valve seat surface includes a receiving portion.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device of high display quality and superior sharpness is presented. Large bumps and small bumps made of synthetic resin material are formed on a glass substrate. Covering these bumps and filling the recesses among the bumps, a smoothing film is formed. On the smoothing film, a reflective metal film made of metal material such as aluminum is formed. This reflective metal film is formed in plural rows in a longitudinal band form. On the glass substrate, the bumps, smoothing film, and reflective metal film are combined to compose a reflector. An orientation film is formed on the reflective metal film. By the electric field applied in the liquid crystal layer so as to be in the light shielding state when the retardation .DELTA.n.sub.1 d.sub.1 of the liquid crystal cell and the retardation .DELTA.n.sub.2 d.sub.2 of the substrate possessing optical phase compensating function satisfy .vertline..DELTA.n.sub.1 d.sub.1 -.DELTA.n.sub.2 d.sub.2 .vertline./.lambda.=0.25+m/2.+-.0.1 (m=0, 1, 2, - - - ), and in the light transmitting state when satisfying .vertline..DELTA.n.sub.1 d.sub.1 -.DELTA.n.sub.2 d.sub.2 .vertline..lambda.=m/2.+-.0.1 (m=0, 1, 2, - - - ), by crossing the director direction of the liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal cell and the slow direction of the substrate possessing optical phase compensating function almost orthogonally, the value of .vertline..DELTA.n.sub.1 d.sub.1 -.DELTA.n.sub.2 d.sub.2 .vertline./.lambda. is varied, and these two states are used to present a display, and the absorption axis or transmission axis of the polarizer is set at 30.degree. to 60.degree. to the director direction of the liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal cell.

    摘要: The reflection-type liquid crystal display device has a pair of substrates disposed opposite to each other and a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. A plurality of gate bus wirings and source bus wirings are formed on the surface on the liquid crystal layer side of an insulating substrate composing one substrate to be at right angles to each other and maintain the insulation therebetween. A reflection electrode is formed in the rectangular region formed by the crossing of the gate bus wiring with the source bus wiring. The reflection electrode and the gate bus and source bus wirings are connected through a TFT element. The reflection electrode has a bumpy surface, in the peripheral region of which the ratio of the surface area excluding dents to the total surface area of the peripheral portion of the reflection electrode is selected to be in the range of 60 to 100%.
