Abstract:
In an embodiment, the present invention is a communication plug that includes a plug housing with a plurality of plug contact slots and at least one plug contact with at least two tines. The at least one plug contact is positioned in one of the plug contact slots, the one of the plug contact slots having a bridge positioned between the at least two tines.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for crosstalk compensation in a jack of a modular communications connector includes connected to the plug interface contacts proximate the plug/jack interface. The structure configured to allow the current to flow generally orthogonal to the plug interface contact.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to communication connectors and internal components thereof. In one embodiment, the present invention is a communication jack comprising back-rotated plug interface contacts having variable cross-sectional widths. In another embodiment, the present invention is a communication jack having back-rotated plug interface contacts where at least two of the plug interface contacts have a differing beam length. In yet another embodiment, the present invention is a communication jack having back-rotated plug interface contacts where at least two of the plug interface contacts have opposing bends in a deflection zone.
Abstract:
A communication jack which includes a housing with an aperture for receiving a communication plug, and a circuit board at least partially within the housing. The circuit board includes crosstalk compensation elements. A plurality of plug interface contacts are connected to the circuit board. At least one of the plurality of plug interface contacts includes a contact element layered with at least one spring element.
Abstract:
A patch cord for an intelligent patching system is provided. The patch cord is a ten-wire patch cord having a patch panel plug and a switch plug. The patch panel plug contains ninth and tenth wire contacts that interface with ninth and tenth wire contacts of an intelligent patch panel port. The switch plug is provided with a plunger-style switch that enables the intelligent patch panel to determine when the switch plug is plugged into a switch port. The switch plug is also provided with LED's and circuitry that controls the LED's.
Abstract:
A communications connector has a main housing with a front opening and first, second, and third rear openings. The connector also has first, second, and third contacts, the first contact extends from the first rear opening of the main housing to the front opening of the main housing. The second contact extends from the second rear opening of the main housing to the front opening of the main housing. The third contact extends from the third rear opening of the main housing to a shield surrounding a front portion of the main housing.
Abstract:
A communications connector has a main plug assembly and a wire cap that is configured to terminate a pair of conductors to the pair of contacts by being secured to a side of the main plug assembly in a direction perpendicular to a plane defined by a deflection direction of a latch of the connector. In another embodiment, a communications connector has a main plug assembly and two electrical contacts within the main plug assembly wherein each electrical contact has a first end having a forked receptacle and a second end having an IDC that is configured to have a conductor terminated in a direction perpendicular to a direction of mating insertion and parallel to a plane defined by the contact.
Abstract:
An electrical coupler has first and second housing halves and first and second contacts retained within the first and second housing halves. Wherein the first housing half is identical to the second housing half and the first contact is identical to the second contact.
Abstract:
A strain relief system for a cable inserted within has a main housing with an opening and a series of ramp features and a series of serrations on an interior surface. The system also has a rotating collar with an opening in line with the opening of the main housing. The rotating collar having a series of follower features configured to be inserted into the opening of the main housing such that when the rotating collar is rotated relative to the main housing, the follower features engage the ramp features to compress the cable inserted with the strain relief system. The rotating collar also having at least one ratcheting tab configured to engage the series of serrations of the main housing such has to provide a ratcheting function between the rotating collar and the outer housing.
Abstract:
A communications connector has a shielded jack body and a wire cap. The shielded jack body has a single pair of plug interface contacts having a first thickness and a single pair of insulation displacement having a second smaller thickness. The plug interface contacts are configured to electrically connect to the insulation displacement contacts. The wire cap is configured to terminate a pair of conductors to the pair of insulation displacement contacts by being secured to the sheilded jack body in a direction perpendicular to a direction of an insertion of an associated connector.
