摘要： Conjugates of penicilloic acid derivatives and certain poly(amino acids), which are either antigenic or enzymatic, are provided. Antibodies raised against the antigenic poly(amino acids) and the enzyme conjugates are used as reagents in immunoassays. In particular, the compounds of the present invention can be used for measuring the presence of a .beta.-lactamase in a patient serum sample by adding a known amount of penicillin to the sample and observing the production of penicilloic acid over a fixed period of time.

摘要： Compounds are provided which can be used in the preparation of reagents useful for quantitatively determining the presence of b-adrenergic blocking agents. These compounds contain a derivative of the blocking agent which is linked to an antigen or enzyme, the antigen conjugates being useful for preparing antibodies, and the enzyme conjugates being useful as detectors in an immunoassay as well. Additionally carboxylic acids, esters and aldehydes which are derivatives of the blocking agents are provided which are useful in preparing the above conjugates.

摘要： Theophylline derivatives are provided for preparing reagents for use in competitive protein binding assays and for use as reagents in competitive protein binding assays. Theophylline is substituted at the 3 position and conjugated to antigens for production of antibodies which specifically recognize theophylline as distinct from structurally similar analogs such as caffeine. Enzyme conjugates are provided which find use for measuring the amount of theophylline in a sample suspected of containing theophylline. A method is provided employing the reagents for the determination of theophylline.

摘要： A method for detecting boar taint in a pig sample is provided. Anti-skatole antibodies are combined in a reaction buffer with a pig sample to form a reaction mixture. After incubating, the amount of skatole-antibody complex formation is determined. In a particular embodiment, the method utilizes solid substrate-affixed antibodies in a competitive inhibition assay with an enzyme-labeled skatole analogue. Kits facilitating the method are also provided.

摘要： Methods and compositions are provided for conjugating a wide variety of compounds, particularly polyfunctional compounds, having a mercapto group, either naturally present or synthetically introduced, to a polyamino compound, particularly a polypeptide (including proteins). The method employs a haloalkyl-carbonyl compound, which is conjugated to one or more of the amino groups under mild acylating conditions. This is followed by combining the acylated polyamino compound with a mercapto containing compound, whereby the halogen is displaced by the sulfur of the mercapto group to form a stable thioether linkage. The resulting conjugates, depending on the compounds involved, can find uses in immunoassays, as hapten-antigen conjugates for the production of antibodies, and as ligand analog enzyme conjugates for use as reagents in controlling the distribution of substitution of a mercapto compound to a polyamino compound.
