    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing a sequenced copolymer comprising a first block (A) connected to a second block (B), said method comprising the following steps of monitored radical polymerisation: (E1) bringing into contact, typically in an aqueous medium: unsaturated ethylene monomers mA, selected in order to constitute the block (A); a source of free radicals; and an agent for monitoring the radical polymerisation; and then (E2) bringing into contact: the polymer obtained from step (E1); unsaturated ethylene monomers mB; a source of free radicals; and a polymer P0 which is not ethylenically unsaturated and supports labile hydrogens.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing an aqueous dispersion of water-soluble polymers, which comprises a step (E) of radical polymerization, wherein the following are brought into contact in an aqueous medium (M) in which the synthesised polymer is not soluble: at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer which is soluble in the aqueous medium (M); at least one source of free radicals; and a reactive stabiliser which comprises: a polymer chain (CP) which is soluble in the medium (M), a group (G) providing the radical polymerization of step (E) with a living and controlled nature, such as, for example, a group carrying a thiocarbonylthio-S(C═S)— group.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing a dispersion (D°), comprising: (E1) a polymerization performed M in an aqueous medium in the presence of: ° at least a pre-polymer (pO) of formula (R11)X—Z11—C(═S)—Z12-[A]-R12, which is soluble in the aqueous medium ° at least one free-radical polymerization initiator; and ° at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomer (m) with a ratio m/pO of the mass of the monomers (m) to the quantity of pre-polymer (pO) preferably below 10 000 g/mol whereby a dispersion of copolymers is obtained, including polymers with a living character; (E2) a conversion of the terminal groups of the copolymers that deprive the copolymers of their living character. The invention also relates to the use of dispersion (D°) for forming dispersions of hydrophobic polymers (Dp), suitable e.g. in fabric conditioning compositions.
