Abstract: A system and method for indicating the drive state of an autonomous vehicle. The system includes a human machine interface and an electronic controller electrically coupled to the human machine interface and which is configured to display a drive state indicator. The drive state indicator includes a mode indicator based on a current operating mode for the autonomous vehicle, a duration indicator based on a duration for the current operating mode and a descriptor based on the duration. The electronic controller is further configured to update the duration indicator and the descriptor based on a remainder of the duration. In an alternative embodiment, the electronic controller is further configured to determine whether a second operating mode is available and display a second mode indicator based on the second operating mode when a second operating mode is available.

The first selection (130) and the second selection point (135) are disposed on a steering wheel (200) of the autonomous vehicle. The first selection point (130) includes a first button. The second selection point (135) includes a second button. The electronic controller is electrically coupled to the first selection point (130) and the second selection point (135). The electronic controller is configured to detect when the first button is selected and when the second button is selected. The electronic controller is also configured to activate the autonomous driving mode when both the first button and the second button are selected for more than a first predetermined amount of time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for an adaptive user interface system for a vehicle with an automatic vehicle system. The adaptive user interface system includes a display and an electronic controller. The controller is configured to generate a graphical user interface indicative of operation of the automatic vehicle system, output the graphical user interface on the display, monitor an indicia of a driver's comfort level, and determine, based on the monitored indicia, when the driver is not comfortable with the operation of the automatic vehicle system. In response to determining that the driver is not comfortable with the operation of the automatic vehicle system, the electronic controller modifies the graphical user interface to provide an increased level of detail.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an autonomous vehicle. One method includes receiving, with an electronic processor of the autonomous vehicle, a profile selection. The method further includes receiving, with the electronic processor, a driver profile including a plurality of settings based on the profile selection. The method further includes, when the autonomous vehicle is operating in an autonomous driving mode, controlling, with the electronic processor, at least one vehicle control system of the autonomous vehicle based on at least one of the plurality of settings. The method further includes operating, with the electronic processor, the autonomous vehicle in a manual driving mode. The method further includes receiving, with the electronic processor, data from at least one sensor while the autonomous vehicle operates in the manual driving mode. The method further includes determining, with the electronic processor, a driving style based on the data and adjusting at least one of the plurality of settings based on the driving style.
