The processor is configured to identify multiple external electronic devices by using the at least one communication module; determine time schedule information based on a number of the multiple identified external electronic devices or based on a location measurement scheme; transmit the time schedule information to the multiple external electronic devices by using the at least one communication module; transmit first information to the multiple external electronic devices at a first time assigned to the electronic device, based on the time schedule information, by using the at least one communication module; receive second information from one of the multiple external electronic devices at a second time assigned to the multiple external electronic devices; and determine a distance from one of the multiple external electronic devices based on the first information or the second information.

Abstract: A method includes obtaining channel information, range information, and angle of arrival (AoA) information based on wireless signals communicated between an electronic device and an external electronic device. The method also includes generating an initial prediction of a presence of the external electronic device relative to a field of view (FoV) of the electronic device based on the channel information and at least one of the range information or the AoA information. The initial prediction includes an indication of whether the external electronic device is within the FoV or outside the FoV of the electronic device. The method further includes performing, using a tracking filter, a smoothing operation on the range information and the AoA information. Additionally, the method includes determining that the external electronic device is within the FoV of the electronic device based on the AoA information, the smoothed AoA information, and the initial prediction.

Abstract: An electronic device and a method of the electronic device for performing localization in a wireless communication system are provided. The electronic device and method comprise: receiving, from a plurality of anchor nodes, signals for the localization; performing ranging measurements of the signals based on a range and an angle of arrival (AoA) of the signals; determining whether at least one of the plurality of anchor nodes is not detected based on the ranging measurements; determining, based on a determination that the at least one anchor node is not detected based on the ranging measurements, whether at least one other anchor node in the plurality of anchor nodes is located on a line of sight (LOS) from the electronic device, wherein the LOS is determined based on the AoA of the signals; and performing the localization based on the at least one other anchor node.
