Abstract: A method for cell measurement by a user equipment (UE) in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) communication system is provided. The method includes camping to an NTN cell; receiving at least one parameter from the camped NTN cell; determining a rate of change (ROC) of signal strength of the camped NTN cell; determining whether a neighbor cell measurement criterion is met based on the at least one parameter and the ROC of the signal strength of the camped NTN cell; and initiating measurement for at least one neighbor cell based on the neighbor cell measurement criterion being met.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic device including a wireless communication circuitry capable of supporting dual connectivity for a first cellular communication network and a second cellular communication network, a processor operatively connected with the wireless communication circuitry, and a memory operatively connected to the processor, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the electronic device to establish a connection with the second cellular communication network as a secondary cell group (SCG) based at least in part on control information received from the first cellular communication network, monitor a condition of the electronic device, and report, if the condition is satisfied, an SCG failure to at least one of the first cellular communication network or the second cellular communication network for releasing the second cellular communication network, wherein the condition includes no mobile activity of the electronic device.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method for selecting a frequency combination for a User Equipment (UE), is disclosed. The method includes determining, by the UE, at least one of a bandwidth or multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layer information associated with each of a plurality of cells upon detecting the plurality of cells present in a network. The method includes identifying, by the UE, at least one combination of cells amongst the plurality of cells providing a maximum throughput based on the determined bandwidth and the MIMO layer information associated with each of the plurality of cells. The method further includes latching, by the UE, onto the combination of cells with the maximum throughput.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to dynamic methods and systems for reading System Information Block 19 (SIB19) for maintaining Uplink Synchronization (UL Sync) and updated cell information during Non-Terrestrial networks (NTN) connectivity. The methods include a dynamic algorithm to reacquire SIB19 by considering different factors of UE's current status such as Radio Resource Control (RRC) states (idle/inactive/connected), SI periodicity of SIB19, emergency call status and UL Sync validity timer duration. The methods include monitoring of the UE status periodically and dynamically executing the algorithm to decide the time instance and periodicity to re-acquire SIB-19 based on UE current status. The methods include evaluating the UE condition on each SIB periodicity, and determining the next time period and periodicity to read SIB19.

Further, the method includes mitigating, by the electronic device, the temperature of the electronic device by switching the application from the plurality of applications from the first RAT to a second RAT in response to detecting that the temperature of the electronic device meets the thermal mitigation criteria.
