Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system is provided. The method comprises receiving, from an access management function (AMF) entity via a base station, a configuration update command message in case that the UE supporting a multi universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) feature is not registered for an emergency service, and disabling the MUSIM features based on the received configuration update command message. The configuration update command message includes registration result information indicating that the UE supporting the MUSIM features is registered for the emergency service.

For example, the disclosure relates to a method for switching a data session for an application, implemented in a user equipment with dual SIM. The method includes: determining a User Equipment (UE) Route Selection Policy (URSP) rule for a primary Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) and a secondary SIM. The method includes detecting a trigger for switching the data session of the application to the secondary SIM based on determination of the URSP rule, wherein the trigger includes one of a matching traffic descriptor, a dedicated network slice, a Quality of Service (QoS) rule and a user preference. The method includes configuring the secondary SIM for the DDS based on the trigger; and switching the data session of the application to the secondary SIM for continuing the data session.

According to one embodiment, the method includes registering, by one or more User Equipment's (UE), with a Prose Server by sending a capability information for receiving direct discovery or communication parameters, policies, authorization, provisioning and radio resources by the prose server, the one or more UE's to include a WLAN discovery frame in a PC5 message, transmitting, by a first User Equipment, a PC5 discovery message to a second User Equipment, indicating by the second UE, a message to a neighbor awareness networking (NAN) discovery engine indicating the reception of PC5 Discovery message along with the WLAN discovery frame, and establishing by the second UE, a WLAN communication link with the first UE, without performing a WLAN discovery search.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) and a method to maintain service session continuity in a wireless communication network are provided. The UE includes a transceiver, memory storing one or more computer programs, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the transceiver and the memory, wherein the one or more computer programs include computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the UE to identify an application running on the UE and a corresponding packet data unit (PDU) session mapping for the application data route, defer a re-evaluation of UE route selection policy (URSP), until at least one condition has been met, based on an application type, and trigger the re-evaluation and applying highest priority URSP rules for traffic for the identified application during an ongoing service session based on the application type.

Abstract: A method for re-evaluating one or more user equipment route selection policy (URSP) rules associated with a user equipment (UE) in communication with a network entity is disclosed. The method comprises receiving, at a user equipment non-access stratum (UE NAS) layer, a back-off timer from the network entity. The back-off timer is related to non-initiation of a packet data unit (PDU) session associated with an application within the UE. The method comprises initiating, by the UE, the PDU session associated with the application. The method comprises indicating, by the UE NAS layer, an expiry of the back-off timer. The method comprises, upon the expiry of the back-off timer, re-evaluating, by the UE, the one or more URSP rules to determine whether a change of association of the PDU session with the application is required.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method of optimizing service delivery performed by a UE operating in EN-DC mode is disclosed. The method comprises detecting that a network service is ongoing at the UE using a first radio access technology (RAT), based on an application request sent by the UE to a network, wherein the first RAT is one of long-term evolution (LTE) and NR. The method further comprises detecting, during the ongoing network service being availed using the first RAT, a frequency of one or more NR network procedures being performed by the UE to be greater than a first threshold frequency. The method further comprises modifying a measurement interval associated with an NR cell measurement procedure, in response to detecting the frequency of the NR network procedures to be greater than the first threshold frequency. Furthermore, the method comprises continuing the Network Service using the first RAT.
