摘要: A holographic recording/reproducing apparatus includes a splitter unit for splitting a laser beam into a first laser beam for generating a signal beam and a second laser beam which serves as a reference beam, a spatial light modulator for spatially modulating the first laser beam in accordance with information to be recorded, the modulated first laser beam serving as the signal beam, and a first lens system for focusing the signal beam and the reference beam onto a holographic recording medium. In a recording process, the signal beam and the reference beam are guided through one and the other half-regions separated along the optical axis of the first lens system. In a reproduction process, only the reference beam is guided through one of the half-regions and a signal reproduction beam from the holographic recording medium is guided through a second lens system in the other half-region.

The magneto-optical head includes a light transmitting section for transmitting light provided to a slider floating over a recording medium, and a magnetic field applying means arranged around the light transmitting section. The magnetic field applying means includes a thin film coil and a magnetic material serving as a magnetic field generating yoke having a portion disposed on the side of the recording medium and another portion disposed on the opposite side to the recording medium. The magneto-optical read/write apparatus has the magneto-optical head for reading/writing information stored in the recording medium.

摘要: An optical element is provided in which in a lens surface substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens, there is embedded a conductive member whose diameter or width is smaller than the diameter of an optical spot incident upon the lens surface. The optical element is used in an optical head which reads a signal by illuminating an optical recording medium with a reading light. The basic principle of this optical head is such that a subtle phase change of the light is detected which is caused by the electromagnetic interaction between the conductive member embedded in the optical element and a conductive material on the surface of the optical recording medium. For example, the interference between return light beams from the optical recording medium is used to read a signal. Alternately, a high frequency current is supplied to the conductive material and a signal synchronous with the high frequency is extracted to detect the interaction between the conductive material on the optical recording medium and the conductive member, to thereby read a signal recorded in the optical recording medium.

摘要: An ink tank holding member for holding ink tanks containing ink is made freely attachable and detachable, at the same time, having ink lead-out members for leading out ink from ink supply ports provided for the ink tanks. For this ink tank holding member, gap complementary members are made mountable to complement the difference in shapes of ink tanks to be installed on the holding member. With the structure thus arranged, it becomes possible to use the ink tank holding member for each of the cartridges commonly, hence attempting the common use of parts, at the same time, preventing effectively the ink tanks from being inclined by the provision of the gap complementary members, thus enhancing the reliability of ink supply portion, as well as preventing the degradation of performance that may be caused by erroneous insertion of ink tanks.

摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus records information by ejecting ink droplets onto a recording medium. The ink jet recording apparatus has a recording head; driving circuits, measuring circuit, and a judging unit. The recording head has ejection outlets and ink liquid passages connecting to the ejection outlets respectively, an electro-thermal converting element being disposed in each of the ink liquid passages, for generating thermal energy for ejecting the ink droplets. The driving circuits drive the electro-thermal converting element to generate the thermal energy enough to eject the ink droplet. The measuring circuit individually measures a resistance value of the electro-thermal converting element when the driving circuits drive the electro-thermal converting element. The judging unit judges presence of an abnormal state in the ink liquid passage according to the resistance value.
