    摘要: A vehicular navigation system includes a central control unit which determines when a present position deviates from a searched route along which guidance is being provided from a starting point to a destination and determines whether or not the detected deviating present position is on a guidable road prior to re-searching the route and providing guidance based upon the re-searched route. A guidable road is a road upon which the navigation system contains sufficient map information and guide information for the navigation system to search a route and provide guidance. Additionally, system determines whether the vehicle has traveled a predetermined distance after re-search of the route prior to providing travel guidance based upon the re-searched route. Otherwise travel guidance continues to be provided based upon the previously searched route. A driver, after making a short deviation, may thus return to the previous route without travel guidance being interrupted by a re-searched route.

    摘要: A navigation apparatus having road system data 6 which represents information of connections and coordinates of intersections and roads between intersections, a travel distance sensor 2, steering angle sensor 3, a present position calculating module 4 for calculating the present position with a unit distance between an intersection and the terminal intersection of a going-out road selected at the former intersection. The apparatus is further provided with a module 15 for generating data on the direction of traveling to a destination point at respective intersections, and a guidance outputting module 5. Traveling direction data is made in response to inputting of the destination point, the present position is determined by selecting a going-out road with the present position calculating module with respect to each intersection, and guidance data on the traveling direction at the terminal intersection of the present road is thereafter output. When a present position is input, the present position is calculated from data on the corresponding road, the travel distance, and the steering angle. Similarly, at the terminal intersection of this road, another road extending in the traveling direction is selected from the road system data. The present position is also calculated with respect to this road.

    摘要: A vehicle navigation system realizing a discrete display of the present position of a vehicle during a period from when the vehicle reaches a predetermined distance before an intersection until the vehicle passes the intersection. Especially, in a zone a short distance before the intersection, the present vehicle position mark is fixed at the center of the displayed intersection until the travelling direction of the vehicle is changed. Thereby, even when the accuracy of monitoring of the present position is relatively low, misindication, such that the present position is displayed as if the vehicle has passed straight through the intersection in spite of not having actually reached the intersection, is avoided.

    摘要: A vehicular navigation apparatus includes a distance sensor (1), a steering angle sensor (3), a curve detecting unit (9) provided with inputs of a distance signal and steering-angle signal for calculating a change in vehicle travelling direction by referring to a steering angle - travelling direction conversion table (17), a course exploration unit (13) provided with inputs of present position and destination for performing course exploration based on intersection data, road data and node data, a comparison-decision unit (11) for comparing retrieved course data and results of curve detection, and a guidance processor (15) for executing predetermined guidance processing based on the results of comparison. Thus, it is determined whether the vehicle has turned at a guidance intersection or node on a predetermined course and whether the vehicle is on the predetermined course. If the vehicle has made a correct turn, present position is calculated by performing a distance correction using intersection position data or node data. When it is determined that the vehicle is off course, the driver is so informed and instructions can be given for measures to be taken subsequently.

    摘要: In order to provide a driver with guidance for a direction of travel without confusing the driver even in a case where the angular difference between an approach road and a departing road at a branch point is very small or even when a branch point has a complicated shape, a navigation system is provided with present-position sensor for calculating present position of the vehicle; an input for entering information necessary for calculating a route; an output for giving notification of information for carrying out route guidance; an information storage device in which all data necessary to carry out route guidance has been stored; route calculator for calculating a route based upon the information entered by the input; route storage for temporarily storing the route calculated by the route calculator; and a guidance control unit for outputting guidance information relating to the route to the output. The information storage device stores branch-point data and road data connected to branch points and has direction data indicative of a departing road with respect to an approach road connected thereto by a branch point. The guidance control unit outputs the guidance information to the output based upon the direction data.
