摘要： A magnetic head apparatus is provided which is capable of recording data in a recoding layer having high coercive force with high accuracy without heating. A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus is also provided which has the magnetic head apparatus. A recording head has: a main magnetic pole; a recording-side front-end shield (a return magnetic pole); a recording-side rear-end shield (a return magnetic pole); a main coil for generating a perpendicular recording magnetic field at the main magnetic pole; and an auxiliary coil for generating a longitudinal alternating current magnetic field having a frequency in the microwave band at the main magnetic pole.

摘要： A method of generating a thin film for use in a spin valve of a magnetoresistive (MR) sensor having a nano-constricted spacer is provided. The bottom portion of the spin valve is deposited up to the pinned layer, a deposition chamber is provided, and the spacer layer is sputtered thereon. A main ion beam generates ions onto a composite surface including magnetic chips and insulator material. Simultaneously, an assisted ion beam provides ions directly to the substrate, thus improving the softness of the free layer and smoothness of the spacer layer. Neutralizers are also provided to prevent ion repulsion and improve ion beam focus. As a result, a thin film spacer can be formed, and the nano-constricted MR spin valve having low free layer coercivity and low interlayer coupling between the free layer and pinned layer is formed.

摘要： A germanium detector measures an energy spectrum of a gamma ray flux. The detector includes a cooling layer continuous over a periphery of the columnar germanium crystal. The cooling layer reduces current leakage induced by heat, so that high energy gamma rays can be precisely detected. A combination of a plurality of germanium crystal bodies connected one another to form the germanium crystal of at least 20 cm leads to a more precise detection of high energy gamma rays. A method for determining a photonuclear reaction cross section using the germanium detector enables measurement of the energy dependence of a photonuclear reaction cross section at high resolution. The method employs a white gamma ray flux radiated to a nuclide. The germanium detector measures the spectrum of a transmission gamma ray flux transmitted through the nuclide. Peaks are specified in the obtained spectrum. An atomic nucleus can be transformed using a monochromatic gamma ray flux having an energy level corresponding to the peak.

摘要： An image forming apparatus capable of incorporating a DF, an ADF or an RDF includes a digitizer for designating at least one area of an original, an image forming unit for forming an original image of the designated area on a transfer sheet, and a control section for adding a specific image to the designated area. The control section also allows a multi-copy or a two-sided copy operation for a plurality of designated areas with different colors. The apparatus also includes a memory, the area designation data of which is retained whether reset by a reset key or upon a power ON operation. In this case, only the designated areas are reset. The apparatus further includes a middle tray and a second sheet feeder, which are selectively used according to the types of sheets.
