A motor includes a rotor including a permanent magnet circumferentially equally divided and alternately magnetized to different poles into a cylindrical shape. A first coil and a second coil are displayed inside and axially of the rotor. First outer magnetic poles and first inner magnetic poles are excited by the first coil and are opposed to the outer peripheral surface and inner peripheral surface of the rotor, respectively. Second outer magnetic poles and second inner magnetic poles excited by the second coil are opposed to the outer peripheral surface and inner peripheral surface of the rotor, respectively. The first inner magnetic poles and the second inner magnetic poles are located between the first coil and the second coil, to thereby make the opposed area of the outer magnetic poles, the inner magnetic poles and the magnet large and provide a super-compact motor of a high output and high efficiency.

This invention provides an alumina base ceramic sintered body excellent in wear resistance with high hardness, also with high strength and high toughness, and particularly suitable for a cutting tool or wear resistant member. This sintered body contains 5-70 % by volume of WC and 5-70% by volume of Ti (C,N) solid solution having a C/N mole ratio ranging from 1:9 to 9:1, the WC and Ti (C,N) having particle sizes of 5 .mu.m or less, respectively.

Substrate materials for magnetic heads consisting of 24-75 mol % of .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and the remaining 76-25 mol % of TiC.sub.x O.sub.y N.sub.z containing a small amount of additives, that has a NaCl-type structure which retain known characteristics required on such materials and have controlled sizes of crystallites of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and TiC.sub.x O.sub.y N.sub.z, uniformly dispersed TiC.sub.x O.sub.y N.sub.z crystallites and, if any, additive elements, in which internal stress is relieved. The materials are intended for eliminating problems in IBE to form steps and thus for fabricating high-precision thin-film heads for high-density recording.
