摘要: A device and a process for forming a monolithic substantially closed-porosity ceramic fluidic device having a tortuous fluid passage extending through the device, the tortuous fluid passage having a smooth interior surface, a material of the ceramic body having a continuous and uniform distribution of grains at least between opposed major surfaces of the ceramic body. The process includes positioning a positive fluid passage mold within a volume of binder-coated ceramic powder, pressing the volume of ceramic powder with the mold inside to form a pressed body, heating the pressed body to remove the mold, and sintering the pressed body. A relationship between a first stability characteristic of the volume of ceramic powder and a second stability characteristic of the mold prevents discontinuities in the pressed body after pressing and/or during heating.

摘要: The disclosure herein relates to rechargeable batteries and solid electrolytes therefore which include lithium-stuffed garnet oxides, for example, in a thin film, pellet, or monolith format wherein the density of defects at a surface or surfaces of the solid electrolyte is less than the density of defects in the bulk. In certain disclosed embodiments, the solid-state anolyte, electrolyte, and catholyte thin films, separators, and monoliths consist essentially of an oxide that conducts Li+ ions. In some examples, the disclosure herein presents new and useful solid electrolytes for solid-state or partially solid-state batteries. In some examples, the disclosure presents new lithium-stuffed garnet solid electrolytes and rechargeable batteries which include these electrolytes as separators between a cathode and a lithium metal anode.

摘要: According to an embodiment, a silicon nitride sintered body includes silicon nitride crystal grains and a grain boundary phase, and in a case where Raman spectroscopy of a 20 μm×20 μm region in a central cross section of the silicon nitride sintered body is performed, two or more peaks are detected in ranges of 780 cm−1 to 810 cm−1 and 1340 cm−1 to 1370 cm−1, and four to six peaks are detected in ranges of 170 cm−1 to 190 cm−1, 607 cm−1 to 627 cm−1, 720 cm−1 to 740 cm−1, and 924 cm−1 to 944 cm−1.

摘要: Provided is a transparent spinel sintered body which is formed from an Mg—Al spinel powder having an Al/Mg ratio of from 1.97 to 2.03 or a mixed powder of an Mg oxide and an Al oxide, and wherein the total content of metal impurities excluding Al and Mg is less than 100 ppm. A sample of this transparent spinel sintered body having a thickness of 3 mm has a total light transmittance of 80% or more in the thickness direction for the wavelength range of from 190 nm to 400 nm; and this transparent spinel sintered body is usable as a medium that transmits light from an ultraviolet light emitting element.

摘要: The invention relates to a polycrystalline IR transparent material produced by sintering chalcogenide powder, e.g., ZnS powder, using hot uniaxial pressing followed by hot isostatic pressing. The microstructure of the material described in this disclosure is much finer than that found in material produced using the state of the art process. By using a powder with a particle size fine enough to improve sintering behavior but coarse enough to prevent a lowering of the wurtzite-sphalerite transition temperature, a highly transparent material with improved strength is created without degrading the optical properties. A high degree of transparency is achieved during hot pressing by applying pressure after the part has reached a desired temperature. This allows some degree of plastic deformation and prevents rapid grain growth which can entrap porosity. The crystallographic twins created during this process further inhibit grain growth during hot isostatic pressing.

A method for preparing a zirconia composition comprises preparing a plurality of powders for lamination; the lamination powders containing zirconia, a stabilizer(s) suppressing phase transition of zirconia and a pigment(s) at respective different pigment content ratios, and laminating the lamination powders in a mold. In the laminating step, the mold is vibrated after at least two lamination powders are charged into the mold.

摘要: A method of forming a supporting substrate for a cutting element comprises forming a precursor composition comprising discrete WC particles, a binding agent, and discrete particles comprising Co, Al, and one or more of C and W. The precursor composition is subjected to a consolidation process to form a consolidated structure including WC particles dispersed in a homogenized binder comprising Co, Al, W, and C.
