    摘要: A printing system in which a plurality of terminals for creating document data with different printing protocols or character codes, the document data including a string of printing commands, are connected to a print server for printing the document data via a network. Each terminal includes a device adding an identifier indicating a printing protocol or character code of the document data to be sent to the print server. The print server includes a converter for converting the different printing protocols or character codes into a common printing protocol or a common set of character codes according to the identifier. The print server may includes a memory for storing command processing programs associated with the different printing protocols or different sets of character codes and a switcher for selecting one command processing program or one set of character codes according to the identifier.

    摘要: Code data is converted to an intermediate code data, the intermediate code data is stored in an intermediate code buffer memory, the intermediate code data is converted to picture element data, the picture element data is stored in a page buffer memory and the picture element data is transmitted to a page printer. After the code data is stored in the intermediate code buffer memory, control code data indicating one page part finishing is received in the intermediate code buffer memory buffer, and the printing process preparation signal is outputted to the page printer. When code data is converted to intermediate code data, a format of the code data is judged, to determine whether a conversion processing from the intermediate code data to the picture element data, corresponding to the code data, requires a processing time which extends beyond a predetermined time limit and if such is true the intermediate code data corresponding to the code data is immediately converted to picture element data and stored in the page buffer memory. A high speed processing time can be obtained. A lifetime decrease in the page printer can be restrained effectively. An improved image output system having a high accuracy and a high reliability can be obtained.

    摘要: A print control apparatus for controlling a page printer, such as a laser printer. The print control apparatus comprises a plurality of page buffers provided in units each corresponding to a page having a minimal or relatively small paper sheet size. A necessary numbers of page buffers are acquired and then released by a draw task or a print task according to the page size to be printed so that printing can be carried out even on large size paper sheets with less total capacity of the page buffers and printing can be carried out on average at the highest speed of the printer engine on small size paper sheets even if there is a page containing a lot of drawing data during a continuous printing operation.

    摘要: As a user selects one of error recovery methods for each error category, and the selected method is stored in a memory. When an error occurs, an error recovery method corresponding to an error category of the error is detected. If the detected method is automatic print continuation, then the error is ignored and print operation is automatically continued. If the detected method is a recovery by user's operation, then an error message is displayed, and a procedure is performed in accordance with an instruction from the user.
