    摘要: The present invention provides a detection cell that comprises a body having a first end that defines a first opening, a second end that defines a second opening, and an internal surface that defines an interior cavity that fluidly connects the first opening and the second opening; wherein the interior cavity is capable of holding a support matrix for receiving a chemical species through the first opening, passing the chemical species through the interior cavity, and discharging the chemical species through the second opening; and wherein at least two portions of the body are capable of providing a first and a second guiding region each having an index of refraction less than that of the support matrix. A system utilizing the detection cell of the present invention is also provided. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a method for guiding light through a support matrix through which a chemical species is passing.

The fluid processing device can include a substrate with a fluid processing pathway at least partially formed in or on the substrate.     摘要: Systems, including methods, apparatus, and algorithms, for spectrally imaging a two-dimensional array of samples are disclosed. In one such system, a method of sample analysis includes directing light from a two-dimensional array of examination sites onto a detection area such that dispersed light of known spectral composition from each site falls on the detection area. The method further includes assigning a corresponding two-dimensional array of regions of the detection area for detecting spectra from the examination sites based, at least in part, on the known spectral composition. The method also includes placing samples into the two dimensional array of examination sites and obtaining spectral data for each sample based on the detection area.

    摘要: In a mass spectrometer, an ion source in combination with an accelerator comprising an electron source, a gate electrode constructed so as to block the flow of electrons from the source when a potential is applied, a sample introduction means for transporting carrier gas containing analytes, an ionization chamber positioned to receive the flow of electrons and the carrier gas, wherein the flow of electrons ionizes the carrier gas, a pulsed accelerator, and an ion transfer region situated so that the ionized carrier gas travels from the ionization chamber, through the ion transfer region and into an accelerator. The gate electrode and the pulsed accelerator are controlled in a timed relationship to control the amount off carrier gas being ionized and traveling into the accelerator between accelerator pulses so as to improve the dynamic range of the mass spectrometer and to selectively accelerate a particular mass range.
