Abstract:
A system for effecting the reconditioning of catalyst particles used in the reforming of a hydrocarbon stream which provides a vertically elongated confined chamber that will have the particles flow down between screens of perforated plates in a descending column through a carbon burn-off section and a halogenation section. A preferred design provides for an annularform column of particles with gas flows being out-to-in laterally through the column and, in addition, incorporates a drying section in the lower portion of the chamber. An overall system with a preferred design also combines means for scrubbing the flue gas stream from the burn-off section and returning it to the chamber and, in addition, combines means for continuously recycling a steam-halogen-air stream through the halogenation section.
Abstract:
SATURATED HYDROCARBON ARE DEHYDROGENATED IN CONTACT WITH A CATALYST COMPRISING ARSENIC IN FROM ABOUT A 0.15 TO ABOUT A 0.45 ATOMIC RATIO WITH PLATINUM, AND FROM ABOUT 0.01 TO ABOUT 1.5 WT. PERCENT LITHIUM COMPOSITED WITH ALUMINA. IMPROVED ACTIVITY AND SELECTIVITY RESULTS FROM THE METHOD OF REDUCING AND SULFIDING THE CATALYST PRIOR TO USE.
Abstract:
Alumina is dry-mixed with an oxide of an iron group metal and an oxide of a Group VIB metal, or compounds convertible thereto upon subsequent calcination, and the blend is discharged into contact with a peptizing agent on a pelletizing disc to form spheroidal pellets. Upon calcination in an oxidizing atmosphere, the composite is particularly useful as a hydrotreating catalyst for the conversion and separation of nitrogenous and sulfurous compounds contained in petroleum fractions.
Abstract:
A METHOD OF CATALYST MANUFACTURE. ALUMINA, AN ALKALI METAL HYDROXIDE AND A SOLUBLE COMPOUND OD CHROMIUM ARE PREPARED IN AQUEOUS SLURRY, THE ALUMINA BEING A SUBSTANTIALLY PURE BOEHMITE ALUMINA MONOHYDRATE. THE SLURRY IS AGED, SPRAY-DRIED AND CALCINED TO YIELD A MICROSPHERICAL PRODUCT PARTICULARLY USEFUL AS A DEHYDROGENTAION CATALYST IN A FLUIDIZED TYPE OF OPERATION.
Abstract:
A CATALYTIC COMPOSITE COMPRISING A FAUJASITE DISPERSED IN AN AMORPHOUS SILICA MATRIX. THE CATALYST IS MANUFACTURED BY ADDING THE FAUFASITE TOGETHER WITH THE MOTHER LIQUOR FROM WHICH IT WAS PRECIPITATED TO A SILICA SOL AND THEN EFFECTING GELATION.
