Abstract:
A method for processing information includes steps of: classifying a plurality of files into a plurality of groups, and each group is represented by one or more displayable images; designating each group according to a hierarchy of the groups; displaying images of one or more groups in a same level of the hierarchy in the form of a first virtual ellipse; locating centers of the displayed first virtual ellipses along a path of a second virtual ellipse; wherein a selected one of the groups in the same level of the hierarchy has its first virtual ellipse displayed in a size larger than that of any other displayed first virtual ellipse, a selected one of the images of the first virtual ellipse of the selected group is displayed in an active area of the first virtual ellipse of the selected group.
Abstract:
A display device includes a detachable housing, a main body, and an interface unit. The interface unit electrically connects the detachable housing with the main body. The detachable housing includes an OSD unit for storing a plurality of OSD data; a command input unit for generating and sending signals in response to operations of a user; a processing unit for identifying operations of the user, and, if required by the operations, performing predetermined function to obtain OSD data, generating a corresponding control signal, and transmitting the OSD data and the control signal to the main body through the interface unit. The main body displays an OSD menu corresponding to the OSD data and adjusts the parameters of the display device, corresponding to the control signals.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polypeptide or part thereof which inhibits the apoptotic activity of the tumor suppressor protein p53, and includes screening methods to identify agents which interfere with the activity of the polypeptide.
Abstract:
A system for inspecting a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel (10) includes a magnifier (11) for magnifying an image of the inspected LCD panel, a charge coupled device (CCD) camera (12) for capturing the magnified image of the inspected LCD panel, an image acquisition card (13) for converting analog signals of the magnified image into digital signals, and a computer (14). The computer is for obtaining color template intervals based on a statistical theory, rotating the magnified image when necessary, obtaining transverse mask codes and longitudinal mask codes of magnified image pixels, obtaining a color transverse mask code matrix of sub-pixels of the inspected LCD panel, and determining whether the sub-pixels of the inspected LCD panel are defective according to the color transverse mask matrix. A related method for inspecting an LCD is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a friction control composition comprising a binder a rheological control agent, and optionally a lubricant. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems. A method of reducing lateral force, reducing energy consumption, or controlling friction between a metal surface and a second metal surface by applying the composition to metal surface, for example a top of rail or wheel, is also provided. The composition may be sprayed onto the rail surface.
Abstract:
An apparatus for controlling sounds and images includes: a first memory (11) for storing songs and MMHL (Multi Media Hyper Link) files, each MMHL file including timeline information, lyrics, pictures and videos of a corresponding song, the timeline information including a plurality of time slices and related actions of each time slice; a second memory (13) for storing read songs and MMHL fifes matched with the songs; a third memory (12) for storing one or more controlling programs; and a Central Processing Unit (CPU) (10) for reading a song, obtaining an MMHL file matched with the song, and controlling simultaneous output of the song and the MMHL file according to the timeline information, via the controlling programs. A related method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A computer-automated system and method identify text in a first “citing” court case, near a “citing instance” (in which a second “cited” court case is cited), that indicates the reason(s) for citing (RFC). The automated method of designating text, taken from a set of citing documents, as reasons for citing (RFC) that are associated with respective citing instances of a cited document, has steps including: obtaining contexts of the citing instances in the respective citing documents (each context including text that includes the citing instance and text that is near the citing instance), analyzing the content of the contexts, and selecting (from the citing instances' context) text that constitutes the RFC, based on the analyzed content of the contexts. A related computer-automated system and method selects content words that are highly related to the reasons a particular document is cited, and gives them weights that indicate their relative relevance. Another related computer-automated system and method forms lists of morphological forms of words. Still another related computer-automated system and method scores sentences to show their relevance to the reasons a document is cited. Also, another related computer-automated system and method generates lists of content words. In a preferred embodiment, the systems and methods are applied to legal (especially case law) documents and legal (especially case law) citations.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices are described for providing customized trip plans. Based on information provided by a user, geo-tagged photographs, and/or travelogues, one or more travel destinations are identified. Travel paths typically taken by tourists within each of the travel destinations and stay times within those travel destinations may be determined. A customized trip plan including a travel route plan among the one or more travel destinations and recommended internal paths within each travel destination are provided to the user. A revised customized trip plan may also be provided in response to changes made to information associated with the user.
Abstract:
A test device is for testing display parameters of an electronic product with a page browsing function. The electronic product stores display times of a number of standard frames which selected from a standard video file. The standard video file includes frames record the play process of a testing file being played by a standard electronic product. The test device controls a video capturing unit to capture an original video file which includes frames to records the playing process of the electronic product. The electronic product searches matching frames of the number of standard frames in the original video file. Thus the parameters of the electronic product can be determined by display times of the matching frames in the video file.
