    摘要: The present invention includes a retrofit, in-port filter specially configured for filtering a fluid flow at a high velocity with a minimum of flow resistance. The in-port or simply port filter, is easily retrofit into a threaded pipe connection, and employs a wedge-wire coil, which serves an efficient and self-cleaning screen to prevent the intake of small particulate into the filter, without the need for moving parts, or continuous monitoring and frequent maintenance. One end of the coil is received into a coupler, the outside diameter of the coil less than the coupler's outside diameter, so that the port filter is easily retrofit into an existing fluid distribution system, with the coil insert-able into a nipple off a pipe main. The pipe can transport any fluid, but is preferably carrying water at a moderately high velocity and pressure, such as an irrigation circle-pivot tube pipe.

    摘要: Circulating completion, workover and drilling fluids used in hydrocarbon recovery are filtered after monitoring for viscosity, which frequently causes plugging of filters. A viscometer generates a signal representative of viscosity in the fluid; the signal is used by a programmable controller to divert viscous fluid from the filter, or to take other action to prevent damage to the filter. The viscometer can be used in various positions in the system. Fluids deemed too viscous for the filter can be sent to a viscosity-reducing device, which may be a heating, shear-thinning, or cavitation device, to reduce its viscosity, enabling the fluid to pass through a filter without fouling. After filtering and a return to a lower temperature, the fluid may be treated if necessary to become viscous again for a useful purpose. A temperature monitor can be deployed on the fluid emerging or downstream from the cavitation or other device to assist in correlating temperatures to viscosities of various fluids. The cavitation device can also be used to increase the concentration of a dilute polymer-containing fluid to a usefully viscous value.

    摘要: A screen nozzle for a media extention screen is disclosed which includes a nipple, a bottom cover, a top cover, and a cylindrical screen element sandwiched between the top and bottom covers. The top cover is secured to the bottom cover by means of a threaded rod extending from either the bottom cover or the nipple through the interior of the screen through an aperture in the top cover with the top cover being retained in place by a nut or the like. The nipple is secured to the bottom cover by swaging and the threaded rod is welded to the bottom cover. Assembling the screen element using an internal threaded rod has two substantial advantages over existing screen nozzles. The first advantage is that there are no external welds which may damage or deform or foul the screen and which are also are potential areas of weaknesses which may be subject to corrosion. Secondly the screen element may be replaced without removing the nozzle from the screen plate. This makes repair and replacement of the screen nozzles considerably easier and also cheaper, since the nipple itself does not need to be replaced.

    摘要: A filter element (8), especially for use in backwash filtering systems, includes a filtering element through which a contaminated fluid flows in at least one direction (24). An intercepting device (62) has at least one rod-shaped permanent magnet or electromagnet (64) that at least partially removes magnetizable, especially ferritic portions from the fluid, before the fluid flows through the filtering element. A detaching device (68) removes the magnetizable portions from the intercepting device (62). The detaching device (68) is configured by a stripper ring (70) that travels along the rod-shaped magnet (64) and removes the portions retained by the intercepting device (62). When the filtering element is backwashed, the stripper ring (70), moved by the fluid flow, detaches the portions retained by the intercepting device (62). This filter element requires little construction space and allows for the automatic and energetically favorable removal of magnetizable, especially ferritic portions, when the filtering element is backwashed.

    摘要: An apparatus for manufacturing a wire wound filter screen from wrapping wrap wire over a set of rib wires has a frame, a spindle for supporting the rib wires in a longitudinal orientation, a wire guide for delivering wrap wire around the rib wires as the spindle rotates the rib wires, an electrode for welding the wrap wires to the rib wires at each intersection thereof, and a translating mechanism positioned on the frame for moving rib wires and the welded wrap wire longitudinal along the frame. A laser measures a gap between adjacent surfaces of wrap wire. A processor is used to adjust the translating of the rib wires relative to the gap. An air cushion urges the electrode against the wrap wire.
