Abstract:
A lid assembly for a rotatable atomizer wheel with an atomizing chamber therein for the receipt of a slurry through the lid assembly. The lid assembly includes a lid member with a first opening there through adapted to fit onto the rotatable atomizer wheel over the atomizing chamber. The lid assembly further includes a wear ring fitted inside and extending through the first opening through the lid member for protecting the exposed surface of the first opening through the lid member from wear caused by slurry flowing through the lid into the atomizing chamber.
Abstract:
An outlet nozzle for use within a centrifuge rotor. The outlet nozzle includes an axial inlet channel and an outlet channel disposed angularly with respect to the inlet channel. An insert is received within the holder and includes an orifice portion and a directing portion. The directing portion shields at least a portion of the outlet channel for preventing impact therewith and for diverting fluid flow from the inlet channel of the holder and into the orifice portion of the insert. The insert further includes an inlet edge at a proximal end which is defined by the intersection of the outlet channel and the inlet channel.
Abstract:
A device for directing the flow of an atomized slurry from the ejection orifice of an atomizer housing which is composed of a cylindrical liner bushing made of a wear-resistant material and a cylindrical sleeve bushing designed to support the liner bushing within the ejection orifice of the atomizer housing. The geometries of the liner and sleeve bushings form an annular, recessed shoulder at the discharge end of the bushings. During rotation of the atomizer, turbulent flow eddy currents pack slurry media into this shoulder. The liner bushing is bonded in the sleeve bushing under compression to create a residual preload opposing the centrifugal force generated by rotation of the atomizer housing.
Abstract:
An atomizer wheel for the atomization of slurries of highly abrasive materials which includes a hub secured to a rotating shaft, a wheel bottom connected to the hub, a cylindrical side wall connected with the wheel bottom and a cover plate to form a bowl-shaped feed supply chamber. The side wall includes a number of openings fitted with bushings to provide nozzles which eject droplets of a suspension or slurry provided to the bowl-shaped feed supply chamber. The inner end of each of the bushings extend inwardly from the side wall of the wheel and the inner end or at least a portion of the inner end of at least one of the bushings extends radially inwardly from the side wall a greater distance than the inwardly extending ends of other bushings.

Abstract:
The atomizer wheel includes a plurality of ejection apertures distributed over the circumference of an external wall, in which a plurality of inserts are arranged. The inserts each includes a bushing and a wear-resistant lining arranged in the bushing such that a contact surface of the lining abuts against an internal side of the bushing. Each insert is provided with a transition surface extending between an inner end face of the lining and the contact surface, and the transition surface includes at least one portion forming an angle with the contact surface, by which it is possible to direct the flow of the material to be atomized along the transition surface of the lining and farther down to the inner side of the external wall and thus avoid wear on the bushing.
Abstract:
An outlet nozzle for centrifuge drums, consisting of a nozzle holder with an axial intake channel and with an orifice that is made of a harder material, that fits into the channel, and that has an axial outlet channel comprising a cylindrical bore downstream of an entry cone. The orifice is positioned in the nozzle holder such that the axis of symmetry of the intake channel is at an angle to that of the outlet channel, diverting the flow of the fluid through the nozzle. The initial section of the entry cone is provided with a semicircular recess on the same axis of symmetry, having the same radius as the intake channel, and immediately adjacent thereto.
Abstract:
A centrifugal pump for feeding pulverized material such as coal particles from a low pressure zone into a high pressure zone, said pump having nozzles mounted on a rotor. The pulverized material is ejected into the high pressure space through the nozzles, and gas is supplied to the nozzles to control the flow rate of the pulverized material. Devices are provided that ensure mass flow of the material through the nozzles, even if the nozzles have a short length.
