    摘要: A system for sealing sheets of plastic film together, comprising an apparatus having a first jaw, a second jaw, a sealing wire and a temperature sensor device. The first jaw and the second jaw are displaceable with respect to one another to a closed position, wherein the first jaw and the second jaw are opposed to one another with the sealing wire therebetween, such that sheets of plastic film positioned between the first and the second jaw in the closed position ate sealed together by the sealing wire when heated during a sealing cycle. The temperature sensor device is positioned to measure a temperature of the sealing wire during the sealing cycle. A power supply is connected to the sealing wire to supply an electric current thereto for heating the sealing wire. A controller is connected to the power supply and to the temperature sensor device for receiving temperature signals representative of the sealing wire temperature during the sealing cycle, the controller being inputted with a desired temperature signal from an operator, the controller automatically adjusting the value of the electric current from the power supply to the sealing wire as a function of the temperature signals from the temperature sensor device and the desired temperature signal.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for grasping and advancing adjacent layers of thermoplastic film through the side sealing mechanism of a packaging machine includes a plurality of belts which travel about two sets of cooperating pulleys. Each pulley has two circumferential belt grooves defined within it, each belt groove being functionally adapted to allow the travel of a belt along it. A first line of travel is defined along a path which is parallel with the line of travel for articles moving along the wrapping machine. The second line of travel diverges away at a slight angle. The belts are truncated V-belts, the “truncated V” portion of the belts being disposed outwardly of the pulleys. Each set of pulleys is offset such that the belts cooperate in tooth-meshing fashion. A tail pulley of each set is mounted in an offset cam fashion and is spring loaded to apply tension to the belts. Disposed between the belt paths is a hot wire assembly having a similarly longitudinally diverging hot wire. The hot wire assembly utilizes one mounting block which is stationary and another which is rotatable. The mounting blocks are provided with means for allowing insertion of hot wire end connectors at a predetermined depth. An end sealing apparatus includes means for adjusting the end seal location relative to the vertical height of the article to be wrapped.

    摘要: A packaging device is disclosed for forming packaging cushions of the type that include a plastic bag filled with a solid foam, and wherein the cushions are initially formed of a plastic bag filled with a foamable material that reacts and then hardens to form solid foam. The device comprises means for advancing a sheet of plastic film material that has been center-folded to form a doubled web with one closed edge defined by the center fold and one open edge defined by the adjacent edges of the sheet. Means are included for injecting a foamable composition into the center-folded web between the two folded portions of the sheet, as are means for forming a substantially linear seal along the open edge and substantially parallel to the open edge to thereby longitudinally seal the open edge of the web. The invention further includes means for periodically interrupting the linear seal to provide an unsealed portion along the otherwise sealed edge, and means for transversely sealing the web after foamable composition has been injected, and for concurrently separating a formed and filled bag from the advanced film material.

    摘要: An arrangement for enveloping an object located between two heat weldable webs of enveloping material includes two coacting welding jaws for joining the webs together in their transversal direction on mutually opposite sides of the object. The welding jaws extend in the transverse direction of the webs, across the whole width thereof. One of the jaws is a wire-carrying jaw which supports a freely extending heating wire, and the other jaw is forked and has two legs. The jaws are moveable between a starting position on opposite sides of the webs, and a web welding position in which the webs are held together with the free ends of the fork legs in abutment with one side of the webs and with the heating wire located at the mouth region of the fork gap and in abutment with the other side of the webs. The wire functions to weld said material webs together and to melt-off the webs within the weld region. In the welding position, at least one of the jaws is biased by a spring means towards a further position in which the wire is located within the forked jaw, between the legs thereof at a distance from the mouth of the fork gap.
