Abstract:
A wheel assembly including a rim including a first rim hole extending through an inner surface and an outer surface of a rim at a first angle, the first angle being defined with respect to a center line through the wheel in a direction of travel at the location of the first rim hole and with respect to an axis radially normal to the rim, the first angle having a non-zero first component relative to the center line and a non-zero second component relative to the radially normal axis, a hub including a first hub hole, the first hub hole being formed at the first angle such that the first rim hole and the first hub hole are co-axial, and a first spoke extending between the first rim hole and the first hub hole, the first spoke being co-axial with the first rim hole and the first hub hole.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a spoked wheel that includes a peripheral rim, a central hub, and individual connecting spokes between the rim and the hub, the spokes being taut. The wheel an arrangement for adjusting the tension of at least some of the spokes, and the spokes are taut with an initial tension Ti corresponding to a normal tension value Tn which is reduced by a value corresponding to a compression force R that can be supported by each spoke. For a rear wheel, the spokes supporting the compression forces are those arranged on the side opposite free wheel.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a spoke wheel that includes a peripheral rim, a central hub, and individual connecting spokes between the rim and the hub. In their free state, the spokes of the wheel are mounted without tension or compression between the rim and the hub, and each spoke can bear a compression load of at least 60 daN without bowing. Furthermore, the wheel includes a play-free connection or bilateral connection device for connecting at least one end of each spoke to the rim or the hub.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a wheel including a rim, a hub, at least one spoke connecting the rim to the hub, the spoke being made of composite material. Each spoke of the wheel includes a device enabling a reversible connection with the hub of the wheel, the connection device being at least partially incorporated within the spoke by co-molding therewith.
Abstract:
A wheel including a rim, a hub, and at least one device for connecting the rim to the hub, the connecting device including a composite spoke and a first mechanism to connect the spoke to the rim or the hub, the spoke including an elongated body, which extends in a longitudinal direction, between a first end and a second end, the body and the ends including fibers, the fibers being arranged to form a first loop at the first end. The first connecting mechanism includes a first insert housed in the first loop, a first shank affixed to the first insert, the first shank being oriented along the longitudinal direction, a first screw or fastening portion being defined on the first shank.
Abstract:
A bicycle rim is provided that includes a tire attachment portion, a spoke attachment portion and a plurality of reinforcement members. The spoke attachment portion is fixedly coupled with the tire attachment portion. The spoke attachment portion includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced attachment openings. The reinforcement members are fixedly coupled to the spoke attachment portion at the attachment openings to effectively increase the thickness of the spoke attachment portion of the rim at the attachment openings. Each of the reinforcement members is bonded to the spoke attachment portion. The through openings are aligned with the attachment openings.
Abstract:
A bicycle rim includes a plurality of holes defined therethrough and each hole has a recess defined in an inner periphery of the rim. A diameter of the recess is larger than a diameter of the hole so that an end of a spoke is engaged with the recess. A screw extends through the hole in the rim and threadedly engaged with a threaded hole defined longitudinally in the end of the spoke.
Abstract:
Improved vehicle wheel construction with a peripheral rim, a central wheel hub and a plurality of spokes extending between the rim and hub, wherein the spokes have a first peripheral portion connected to the rim and a second central portion opposed to the first portion. The hub includes at least two opposed outer flanges, with the central portions of the spokes secured to at least one of the outer flanges by hardened molding material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a spoke for a spoked wheel. The spoke has an elongated body and a separate attached end piece on at least one of its ends. The elongated body is tubular and its end is fitted in a recessed bore of the end piece. The end piece is assembled by gluing. In addition, a plug blocks each end of the tubular body to force the glue to creep back while the end piece is being fitted. The invention also relates to a wheel and to a method for manufacturing the spoke.
