Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are described for forming individual packages in a food packaging machine (100) comprising a plurality of sub-systems. One or more local variable values (142) are received, which indicate measurements by the food packaging machine (100) of one or more physical parameters for a local sub-system (120). One or more remote variable values (204) are received, which indicate measurements by the food packaging machine (100) of one or more physical parameters for one or remote sub-systems. One or more control parameter values are determined for the local sub-system (120) of the food packaging machine (100), by processing the remote variable values (204) and the local variable values (142) using a reinforcement learning model (206) and a local control model (210). One or more control parameters of the local sub-system (120) are adjusted in accordance with the determined control parameter values. The formation of individual packages (122) by the food packaging machine (100) is controlled in accordance with the adjusted one or more control parameters.

Abstract: A packaging machine which unwinds a bottom film web from a supply roll and conveys it intermittently or continuously along the packaging machine and in a forming station, forms into the bottom film web packaging cavities, which are then filled with a product to be packaged. In a sealing station, a top film web is sealed to the bottom film web, wherein the bottom and top film web are respectively unwound from a supply roll and the bottom and top film web are respectively tensioned by means of a dancer roll. The supply roll is driven by means of a motor, the parameters of which, in particular rotation speed and/or torque, can be set on the basis of the parameters of the respective supply roll.

Abstract: A film roll replacement device supplies a film roll to a bag making and packaging machine. The film roll replacement device includes a holding section, a driving unit, and a controller. The holding section is at least temporarily located adjacent to a supporting shaft to support the film roll in the bag making and packaging machine, and the holding section holds a first film roll supplied to the bag making and packaging machine. The driving unit moves the holding section in an up-down direction. The controller controls an action of the driving unit to move the holding section to a position where a height position of a center of the first film roll held by the holding section is aligned with the height of a center of the supporting shaft of the bag making and packaging machine.

Abstract: An automatic packager configured to dispense pharmaceuticals into a pharmaceutical pouch and including a verification system. The electronic processor is further configured to generate a third image based on the first image and the second image.

Abstract: An unwind station for a packaging machine may be configured to form wrappers having different sizes from a web of packaging material and supply the wrapper to a wrapping station. The unwind station may include a base configured to support the web of packaging material and a carriage configured to selectively slide in a longitudinal direction on the base. A rotating blade can be configured to periodically score the web to form a break line extending between lateral sides of the web. A first conveyor arm and a second conveyor arm may project longitudinally outward from the carriage. The first conveyor arm and the second conveyor arm can each include a low-speed conveyor configured to transport the web to a high-speed conveyor. The high-speed conveyor is configured to separate the wrapper from the web as the break line passes a shear point between the low-speed conveyors and the high-speed conveyors.
