摘要: In order to provide a membrane electrode assembly that can further improve power generation performances of a fuel cell, the present invention allows a rib portion (22) that separates mutually adjacent gas flow passages (21) from each other to have a porosity lower than the porosity of a lower area (23) of the rib portion. Thus, it is possible to suppress the deformation of the rib portion and excessive permeation of a reaction gas, and consequently to further improve the power generation performances.

摘要: A fuel cell module includes an electrode membrane assembly and a pair of separators. The electrode membrane assembly includes an electrode portion and a pair of gas diffusion layers. The electrode portion includes a polymer electrolyte membrane, an anode electrode formed on a first surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane, and a cathode electrode formed on a second surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane. One of the pair of gas diffusion layers is in contact with an anode surface of the electrode portion at which the anode electrode is disposed, and the other is in contact with a cathode surface of the electrode portion at which the cathode electrode is disposed. The separators sandwich the electrode membrane assembly from respective the anode surface and the cathode surface. The electrode membrane assembly and each separator are adhered to each other by a plurality of resin portions made of a resin which at least partially contains fibers. At least a part of each gas diffusion layer is impregnated with the resin.

摘要: Resinous fibers of nanometer to micrometer width dimensions are drawn from a multi-component system by a melt extrusion process. The process includes a step of combining a fiber resin with a water-soluble carrier resin to form a resinous mixture. The resinous mixture is extruded to form an extruded resinous mixture, the extruded resinous mixture having strands of the fiber resin with the carrier resin. The extruded resinous mixture is then contacted with water to separate the strands of the fiber resin from the carrier resin. An electrically conductive fibrous sheet is then formed from the strands of fiber resin. The fibrous sheets are useful as diffusion layers in fuel cells.

摘要: The base material for a gas diffusion electrode of the present invention comprises a nonwoven fabric containing conductive fibers that contain conductive particles at least in the inside of an organic resin, and is characterized in that a specific apparent Young's modulus of the base material for a gas diffusion electrode is 40 [MPa/(g/cm3)] or more. Since the base material contains conductive fibers that contain conductive particles at least in the inside of an organic resin, it is flexible, and as a result, a polymer electrolyte membrane is not directly damaged. Further, since the specific apparent Young's modulus is 40 [MPa/(g/cm3)] or more, which indicates a high rigidity, and swelling and shrinkage of the polymer electrolyte membrane can be inhibited, cracking of the polymer electrolyte membrane can be avoided.

摘要: The conductive porous layer for batteries according to the present invention comprises a laminate comprising a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer. The first conductive layer includes at least a conductive carbon material and a polymer. The second conductive layer includes at least a conductive carbon material and a polymer. The conductive porous layer satisfies at least one of the following two conditions: “the polymer in the first conductive layer is present with a high density at the surface of the layer in contact with the second conductive layer than at the surface not in contact with the second conductive layer” and “the polymer in the second conductive layer is present with a higher density at the surface of the layer in contact with the first conductive layer than at the surface not in contact with the first conductive layer.” This makes it possible to provide a conductive porous layer with good adhesion between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer and with reduced film thickness variation in each conductive layer. The conductive porous layer of the present invention can be used for fuel cells, metal-air batteries, and the like.
