摘要: A solid oxide fuel cell stack for an aircraft engine includes ring-shaped fuel cell assemblies of parallel tubular oxide fuel cells circumferentially around a central axis. A first stacking manifold for each fuel cell assembly is in contact with a first side of the individual fuel cell assembly, a second stacking manifold is in contact with a second side of the individual fuel cell assembly, and a central recess for leading an engine shaft through. Each fuel cell includes a tubular anode and tubular cathode, the fuel cell assemblies stacked in an axial direction through pairs of first and second stacking manifolds contacting each other. Each first stacking manifold includes a hydrogen inlet and is connected to first ends of the anodes of the fuel cells. Each second stacking manifold includes a hydrogen and steam outlet and is connected to second ends of the anodes of the fuel cells.

摘要: A system may be configured to cool and provide oxidant to an open cathode proton-exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell (FC) stack comprising a plurality of FCs configured to operationally receive a first amount of fluid. Some embodiments may have the first amount be non-zero, and a controller may be configured to adjust the first amount such that a second amount of fluid substantially greater than the first amount is received at the FCs. The adjustment may be performed responsive to at least one of (i) a sensed attribute of one or more of the FCs changing by an amount that satisfies a danger criterion and (ii) an elapsed time of operation of the FC stack satisfying a periodicity criterion. The adjustment may cause the elapsed time to satisfy an endurance criterion.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell that obtains high output density and prevents stress application to the cell during stack assembling and breakage. The fuel cell is equipped with a unit cell including a structure in which an electrolyte layer is sandwiched between an anode electrode layer and a cathode electrode layer. The unit cell is disposed between a first member and a second member. An intermediate substrate is disposed between the first member and the second member. The unit cell is supported at the outer peripheral portion thereof by the intermediate substrate. The width of the electrolyte layer is the maximum width or less of a hollow portion formed between at least one of the first member and the second member and the unit cell.
