Abstract:
A system for rapidly acquiring a spreading code, used in a code division multiple access (CDMA) system, comprises a generator for generating a first long code and a second long code, with each long code having a length of N chips. The first long code is different from the second long code. A transmitter transmits the first long code and the second long code at a first phase angle and at a second phase angle, respectively, on a carrier signal over a communications channel using radio waves. The first long code and the second long code may be transmitted at an in-phase (I) angle and at a quadrature-phase (Q) angle, respectively, on the carrier signal. From the communications channel, an I acquisition circuit and a Q acquisition circuit may acquire, in parallel, the first long code and the second long code from the I angle and the Q angle, respectively, of the carrier signal by searching, in parallel, N/2 chips of the first long code and the second long code.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for adjusting a desired expression section according to input bit values in a mobile communication system that expresses only a defined partial section of the input bit values in order to make the number of output bits be less than the number of the input bits, and maps bit values included in unexpressed sections to a specific value is provided. In the apparatus and method, a measurer divides possible output bit values into at least three sections, and measures output frequencies of output bits for the respective sections for a predetermined time. A controller adjusts the desired expression section, when an output frequency for a specific section is greater than output frequencies for other sections.

Abstract:
A receiver for a telecommunications system, wherein the receiver is capable of using a plurality of available alternative receiver sub-systems and the receiver comprises selection means for selecting one of the plurality of receiver sub-systems for use in processing a received signal according to conditions of the propagation channel through which the received signal was received.
Abstract:
A method of processing data based on programmed instructions includes referencing a number of locations in memory by forming addresses and correct buffer mappings corresponding to separate buffers in the plurality of buffers, and communicating data from the referenced locations in memory to a processing unit. The processing unit concurrently receives inputs from the separate buffers in the plurality of buffers and outputs to another buffer in the plurality of buffers.
Abstract:
A spread spectrum signal having an associated code is tracked at a receiver. A plurality of components of the spread spectrum signal are despread using the associated code. Each of the plurality of components has a different code phase than all others of the plurality of code phases. Each of the plurality of components is weighted based on a phase difference between that component and a center code phase associated with the plurality of components. A tracking error is determined based on the weighted components.
Abstract:
A wireless communication apparatus and a communication control method wherein even if there occurs a change in communication control information due to a function change, an appropriate correction is implemented to improve the communication quality. A wireless communication apparatus (100) comprises a plurality of reconfigurable function parts (reconfigurable function modules (1031)) that reconfigure functions related to communication to perform digital signal processings according to a plurality of communication formats; and a communication operation control function part that controls the communication operation. Each of the reconfigurable function parts includes a property register (10311) in which the communication control information is written. The communication operation control function part includes a reconfiguration control section (107) that overwrites the communication control information in the property register each time the communication function is reconfigured; and a communication control section (104) that performs a communication control based on the communication control information held in the property register.
Abstract:
A method to process DP bits from multiple fingers within a WCDMA rake receiver is provided. DPCH pilot symbols are received, quantized and channel compensated. Then processing operations for individual fingers for the channel compensated quantized despread DPCH pilot symbols are chosen based on the DPCH slot format. The DPCH pilot symbols are processed based on the DPCH slot format in order to produce processed DPCH pilot symbols in a common format. These processed symbols may then be combined. Other embodiments may further allow for the computation of an SNR estimate based on the combined DPCH pilot symbols.
