摘要: The invention relates to a method for calculating in a network that comprises links a joint distribution of forward prices for using the links in the network. The method comprises the following steps: a) a provision step for providing an observed forward price of a forward contract for each of the links, b) a determination step for deriving from the observed forward prices a proposed joint distribution of forward prices by applying a forward pricing process to each of the links, thereby generating a geographical arbitrage in the network; c) an arbitrage reduction step for reducing the geographical arbitrage in the proposed joint distribution of forward prices by a geographical arbitrage reduction value; d) a verification step for verifying if the proposed joint distribution of forward prices together with the observed forward prices has a defined property in response to the determination step and the arbitrage reduction step; if the verification step results in the defined property being not present e) a generation step for generating a property reduction value; repeating the determination step, the arbitrage reduction step and the verification step, applying the property reduction value to the forward pricing process of each of the links.

摘要: A plurality of telecommunication traffic providers are connected to supply information about the current utilization of their networks to a dedicated network element to which is also connected a plurality of potential buyers of traffic capacity. The dedicated network element includes local and wide area data networks over which information about the existence of available network capacity among the providers is communicated to an administration center. The administration center makes that information available via the data network to the participating potential buyers and, thereafter, brokers the sale of the available telecommunication capacity from providers to buyers. It also monitors and assures that the buyers receive the benefit of their purchased capacity and the terms under which their sales were made.

The method also includes extracting information from the output ATM setup message such as the ATM address of the called party CPE, designating the ATM address of the called party CPE that was stored in the first instance of the second parameter of the output ATM setup message to be stored in the first parameter of a destination ATM setup message, and generating a destination ATM setup message that includes the ATM address of the called party CPE stored in the first parameter and the called party phone number value stored in the second parameter. An illustrative intelligent network for providing VToA and private address translation is also provided.

摘要: A method for dimensioning link bandwidth for elastic-data traffic for a link in a communications network, in which a number of connections N having elastic-data traffic flowing over a bottlenecked link in a communications network is determined. A transfer rate ?f for each connection is determined for the condition that the communications network is not a constraining resource for the connection. A per-connection bandwidth objective b is determined for elastic-data traffic flowing over the link. Lastly, a link bandwidth B for the link is dimensioned for the elastic-data traffic flowing over the link based on either a mean performance criterion or a tail performance criterion using the determined number of connections N, the determined transfer rate for each connection and the determined per-connection bandwidth objective b.

摘要: Connection control apparatus is provided for use in an ATM network to control ABR connections provided by the network, each such ABR connection having an agreed minimum transmission rate which it is permitted to exceed when there is spare capacity in the network. The apparatus includes: congestion detection circuitry (32, 33) for determining the end-to-end delay experienced by ATM cells of each ABR connection as they pass through the network; and a rate control circuit (30) connected to the said congestion detection circuitry for detecting, based on the determined end-to-end delay, when one of the ABR channels is congested. When congestion in one of the ABR channels is detected the rate control circuit imposes on the ABR connection concerned a maximum transmission rate that is higher than and dependent upon the said agreed minimum transmission rate for the connection concerned.Such apparatus can assist in achieving a fair allocation of bandwidth when congestion occurs in the network, and provides an effective way of detecting congestion without requiring processing at each intermediate node within the ATM network.

摘要: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method capable of adjusting an upstream band for a corresponding ONU by detecting a quantity of bands occupied by a packet, not an effective user packet, among upstream transmission bands for each target object of allocation of each band in the OLT to examine whether a queue report is normal, and detecting an ONU, which transmits an abnormal queue report, according to the examination. An OLT of a PON according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a frame monitoring unit configured to monitor upstream frame data received for each T-CONT; an error detection unit configured to determine whether a queue report error is generated for each T-CONT according to a result of the monitoring; and a band allocation controller configured to allocate an upstream band for an ONU, in which the queue report error is generated, separately from a normal ONU.
