Abstract:
A radial tire for vehicles, comprising two side-cut shields, which are disposed on both sidewalls of the radial tire, the side-cut shields comprising at least two plies, which comprise a first filament array, which consists of mutually substantially parallel filaments, and a second filament array, which consists of mutually substantially parallel filaments, the filaments in the first filament array being at an angle null relative to the filaments of the second filament array, the angle null being 20-90null, and the side-cut shields being disposed to extend from the bead areas of the radial tire to the shoulder areas of the radial tire such that the edges of the side-cut shields facing the shoulder area are disposed between the belt layers and the plies. A method for manufacturing such a radial tire is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A tire system for motorcycles comprises a pneumatic tire having a cavity, an annular tire core made of an elastic closed-cell material disposed in the cavity and provided on the radially inside with a groove, and a pressure bag inserted in the groove, wherein: in a free state of the tire core not disposed in the cavity, the cross sectional area Sa of the tire core is in the range of from 3.1 to 4.8 times the cross sectional area Sb of the groove; and the total Sa+Sb of the cross sectional area Sa of the tire core and the cross sectional area Sb of the groove is in the range of from 1.0 to 1.3 times the cross sectional area Sc of the cavity.
Abstract:
A semi-pneumatic tire assembly including a tire casing 22 and a lining 26 is provided. The lining 26 includes a contoured inward surface 30 defining an inflation chamber 18 about an associated wheel rim. The lining 26 minimizes the risk of puncture damage from an object penetrating the tire casing 22 while allowing pneumatic cushioning of the ride and cooler running temperatures as compared to solid-fill tires. Additionally, the semi-pneumatic tire will carry the same load or more than the same tire filled with perform and/or solid urethane foam wingfil. The tire assembly is formed by injecting a curable, lining-forming material 96 into a cavity 57 defined between the tire casing 22 and a molding member 50. The molding member 50 includes a contoured outer surface 54 which molds the inward surface of the lining 26. The molding member 50 may be an inflatable airbag 100 retained in the tire assembly during service. Alternately, the molding member 50 may be a solid core 114 which is removed prior to mounting the tire casing 22 and lining 26 on the associated rim.

Abstract:
A bullet-proof tire arranged to be mounted on a wheel rim includes an elastic separating ring which is positioned on the rim and extends between the insides of the tire beads and presses the beads against the flanges of the rim. The separating ring has a height in the radial direction greater than the height of the flanges on the rim so that the tire can be used even when it looses pressure. An elastomer reinforcing layer is positioned intermediate the inner and outer surfaces of the tire and the reinforcing layer may include steel wire. Further, a layer of an elastomer acting as a seal is formed on the inner surface of the tire. The separating ring is reinforced by circumferentially extending steel cables and to reduce its weight and facilitate mounting on the wheel rim, the ring can be provided with grooves formed on at least one of its inside and outside surfaces and with an air filled hollow chamber extending circumferentially through its interior. Moreover, to assist in providing a seal between the ring and the tire, the sides of the ring which contact the tire can be made of a softer rubber material than the remainder of its body and grooves can be formed in its sides which contact the tire.
