Abstract: In an ice maker, a controller is operatively connected to the ice maker's water system to determine a parameter indicative of a total amount of water filtered by a replaceable filter cartridge. Based on the determined parameter, the controller can provide a numerical indication of the total amount of water filtered by the replaceable filter cartridge. Based on the determined parameter, the controller can determine that the replaceable filter cartridge requires replacement. The parameter can be determined based on the amount of time a water inlet valve is opened and/or a water pressure signal. The controller can take action when it determines that the water filter needs replacement, for example, by making a local alarm indication, pushing a remote notification, or making an automated purchase transaction for a new filter cartridge.

Abstract: The invention relates to preventing microplastics from the entering the environment. In particular the invention is directed to filtering microfibers from the waste water from washing machines as well as waste from other appliances and other sources of effluent with entrained microplastics or other microp-ollutants. A separator is provided for separating microplastics from effluent comprising; a chamber including at least one sieve structure, a shroud that acts as a vortex finder and a baffle coaxial with the shroud and projecting upwards from the lower end of the chamber, wherein the shroud has a circular lower rim and the baffle has a circular upper rim, wherein the radius of the lower rim of the shroud is greater than the radius of the upper rim of the baffle.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to fuel monitoring systems and related methods. In an embodiment, a fuel monitoring system for a vehicle is included having a fuel filter sensor device configured to generate data reflecting a filter restriction value of a fuel filter, a geolocation circuit configured to generate or receive geolocation data, and a system control circuit configured to evaluate the sensor data to determine changes in the filter restriction value. The control circuit can receive fuel level data, cross-reference geolocation data and fuel level data to identify refueling locations utilized, and correlate refueling locations with subsequent changes in filter restriction to identify an effect of specific refueling locations on fuel filter loading. In some embodiments, a refueling guidance system for a vehicle is included that can provide route and/or refueling site recommendations based on fuel filter loading rate data. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Abstract: An impending bypass switch includes a housing having a fluid inlet for admitting fluid into an interior of the housing. A piston is displaceable in the interior of the housing in response to a pressure variation of the fluid in the interior. A magnetic sensor is configured to receive a current and is fixedly mounted to the housing. A magnet is mounted to the piston to be displaced with the piston. Displacement of the magnet relative to the magnetic sensor causes a change in the current through the magnetic sensor. The change in the current is indicative of an impending bypass of a component.
