Abstract:
Process for preparing a nickel/ligand catalyst in which a crude ligand mixture is contacted with at least one member selected from the group consisting of (i) a weakly acidic organic resin, (ii) a weakly basic organic resin, (iii) a high-surface-area organic resin, (iv) activated carbon, (v) aluminosilicate zeolite, (vi) a two phase solvent system for liquid-liquid extraction and (vii) a Lewis acid; recovering a solution containing a ligand of the formula (R1O)2POZOP(OR1)2; and contacting the solution with nickel chloride in the presence of a nitrile solvent and a reducing metal which is more electropositive than nickel to produce the nickel/ligand catalyst.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of a reusable heterogeneous nanopalladium (0) catalysts, which is a eco-friendly and economical process employing re-usable heterogeneous catalyst in place of soluble palladium catalysts for preparing coupling products by CnullC bond formation reaction of haloarenes that include unreactive chloroarenes in the presence of base. The use of heterogeneous nanopalladium catalyst precludes the presence of palladium in traces with the product.
Abstract:
This invention relates to late transition metal catalyst precursors and catalysts for olefin dimerizations and oligomerizations, and to methods for making and using these catalysts.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a catalyst-imparting treatment solution and an electroless plating method that can form a protective film of a phosphorus-containing alloy to protect the surface of copper inter-connects of an electronic device without forming voids in the copper inter-connects. The catalyst-imparting treatment solution, for use in a catalyst-imparting pretreatment before carrying out electroless plating of at least part of an electronic device having an embedded copper-interconnect structure using a hypophosphite as a reducing agent, includes at least one complex compound of a noble metal of Group IB or Group VIII of the Periodic Table.
Abstract:
A dehydrogenation catalyst includes an organometallic pincer complex bonded to a mesoporous inorganic oxide support, the organometallic pincer complex possessing catalytic activity for alkyl group dehydrogenation. The pincer complex includes at least one element selected from Group VIII or Group IB of the Periodic Table of the elements, and at least one element selected from Group VA of the Periodic Table of the elements in each of two molecular arms, the Group VIII or Group IB element being bonded to each of the Group VA elements. The catalyst is advantageously employed in conjunction with catalytic distillation to permit the dehydrogenation of organic compounds at lower temperatures and at lower cost than conventional methods.
Abstract:
A high productivity catalyst for bisphenol-A has been discovered which comprises strongly acidic cation-exchange resin spheres produced from a polystyrene/divinylbenzene (PS/DVB) copolymer sulfonated under conditions to introduce sulfone cross-linking. Surprisingly, the sulfone cross-linking improves the resistance to deformation but does not have a negative effect on the activity and selectivity of the catalyst in bisphenol-A production.

Abstract:
Broad molecular weight polyethylene and polyethylene having a bimodal molecular weight profile can be produced with chromium oxide based catalyst systems employing alkyl silanols. The systems may also comprise various organoaluminum compounds. Catalyst activity and molecular weight of the resulting polyethylene may also be tuned using the present invention.
Abstract:
A catalyst for bulk polymerization of a polymerizable unsaturated compound of the invention comprises a compound having at least one thiol group and a secondary hydroxyl group and represented by the following formula (I): 1 wherein R1 to R5 are each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and R6 is a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group or the like. Also a process for bulk polymerization of the invention comprises polymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated compound in an inert gas atmosphere substantially in the absence of a solvent using, as a catalyst, a compound having at least one thiol group and a secondary hydroxyl group and represented by the above formula (I). According to the catalyst or the process of the invention, bulk polymerization can be carried out in one-component catalyst system in a high yield without suffering a runaway reaction.
Abstract:
A method of modifying a Ziegler-Natta type polyolefin catalyst comprises contacting the Ziegler-Natta catalyst with olefin monomer to form a prepolymerized catalyst. The prepolymerized catalyst can comprise a reduced number of catalyst particles having a size of 40 microns or less. The prepolymerized catalyst can be used in a polymerization process to produce polymer fluff particles with a reduced number of polymer fluff fines than the Ziegler-Natta type catalyst.
