The present invention relates to a pellet-type non-crosslinked polypropylene foam having a melting point of 125 to 140null, and a process and device for producing said foam. Since the pellet-type foams of non-crosslinked polypropylene of the present invention has a lower melting point and a closed cell content of 80% or more, it is advantageous to mold such foams. The present invention also relates to an article molded from the above pellet-type non-crosslinked polypropylene foams.

Compositions comprising (A) non-branched polybutadiene having terminal hydroxyl functionality less than 2 per molecule by average; and (B) branched polybutadiene having terminal hydroxyl functionality more than 2 per molecule by average; the weight ratio of (A) to (B) being about 99:1 to 1:99. These compositions are reacted with organic polyisocyanates to form prepolymers which are cured by reaction with a chain extender such as a diol to produce cured resins which exhibit unexpectedly improved tear strength properties and themoplasticity with high modulus, and improved tackiness and shelf life for hot melt adhesives. The prepolymers have lower viscosity and better storage stability as compared with those from conventional branched polybutadienes of the (B) type. Alternatively, the compositions can be cured directly in a one-shot reaction with diisocyanates to form a polyurethane with the described combination of properties. In addition, the compositions of (A) and (B) can be reacted to form polybutadienes with carboxyl, amine or epoxy-terminal functionality with are useful components of formulations.

The object of the invention is also a rubber compound cross-linkable with sulfur that can be obtained from the rubber compound, cross-linkable with sulfur, by vulcanization at temperatures of more than about 100null C. Finally, molded articles, especially vehicle tires or parts thereof, rubber bearings, conveyor belts, hoses and sealing elements that are obtainable from the cross-linkable or cross-linked rubber compounds are objects of the invention.

An oil resistant rubber modified polystyrene composition comprises polybutadiene rubber particles having an average volume particle diameter of 6 to 13 nullm dispersed in polystyrene. The oil resistant rubber modified polystyrene of the present invention has a gel content of 25 to 35% by weight, a degree of swelling of 13 to 22, a residual volatile content of 2000 ppm or less, and a total amount of dimer and trimer of 8000 ppm or less. The oil resistant rubber modified polystyrene composition may be prepared by polymerizing styrene in the presence of polybutadiene rubber, foaming a solution of the rubber modified polystyrene under a reduced pressure of 3 to 40 mm Hg, heating the solution in a tubular heater to a temperature of 190 to 230null C., and then flushing the heated solution into a gas-liquid separator to devolatilize an unreacted monomer and a solvent therefrom.
