Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel hydroxy-containing alkyl glycamide surfactants and detergent composition comprising said surfactants. Since they surprisingly provide low foam, these surfactants can be used as cleansing surfactants in applications where low foaming is desirable.
Abstract:
Aqueous concentrated fabric softeners having particularly good dispersibility in water containing a quaternary ammonium compound, a condensation product of a natural fat and a hydroxyalkyl polyamine, a fatty amine polyglycol ether, a polyglycol ether, a fatty acid ester, and an acid to provide a pH of 3.5 to 5.
Abstract:
A process of treating a textile fabric containing cellulosic fibers to impart crease resistance in which the fabric impregnated with an aqueous solution containing formaldehyde and a curing catalyst, vacuum is applied to the impregnated fabric to remove excess impregnation solution and provide a wet pickup of about 15 to 35 percent, and the fabric is then dried and cured.
Abstract:
The tetramethylol derivatives of 2,4-diamino-6(3,3,3-tribromo-1-propyl)-1,3,5-triazine and 2,4-diamino-6(3,3,3-trichloro-1-propyl)-1,3,5-triazine, namely: 2,4-bis[di(hydroxymethyl)amino]-6-(3,3,3-tribromo-1-propyl)-1,3,5-triazine and 2,4-bis[di(hydroxymethyl)amino]-6-(3,3,3-trichloro-1-propyl)-1,3,5-triazine, respectively, were used in combination with colloidal antimony oxides and or water emulsifying agents and suitable solvent to impart durable flame-retardancy to cellulosic materials, protein fibers such as wool, and to blends of cellulosic materials and synthetic fibers, particularly to cotton textiles or textiles composed of blends of cotton and polyester. Afterglow was eliminated by the use of small amounts of reactive phosphorus compounds.
Abstract:
A method for continuous weight reduction and mercerization of a cloth material. The cloth material which is impregnated with a caustic liquid is first treated with humid heat in a no tension condition to effect reduction in weight and then the cloth material is brought into frictional contact with friction rolls under the same humid heat to mercerize the cloth material in a continuous manner. The method is carried out within a high pressure steamer drum body in which the high humid heat is maintained. A group of rolls are arranged within the fore half portion of the high pressure steamer drum body to convey the cloth material in the no tension condition. In the hind half of the drum body, there are arranged a group of guide rolls to further convey the cloth material with a predetermined degree of tension applied thereto. Some of the group of guide rolls are driven at a variable speed to bring the cloth material into frictional content with them.
Abstract:
Textile materials are rendered flame retardant by applying a phosphorus-containing condensation product, a nitrogen-phosphorus-containing condensation product and an aminoplast precondensate to the textile material, and fixing them on the textile material.
Abstract:
Polyester polymer is recovered from polyester fibers (in the form of filaments, yarns or fabrics and the like, both dyed and undyed), and used in the production of new undyed fibers, films, and other polymer products through the process of: stripping the dye from the dyed polyester fibers by contacting the fibers with a dye-stripping solvent for polyester polymer at a temperature below which the polyester fibers dissolve and above which the crystalline lattice of the polyester fibers swell so as to release the dye; then removing essentially all of the dye-containing dye-stripping solvent which is not absorbed by the fibers and fabrics; then contacting the wet solvent-laden fibers, possibly containing residual dye, with sufficient addition of a dissolution solvent under dissolution conditions for polyester fibers; thereafter precipitating the polyester out of; and, separating the polyester from the solution.
Abstract:
Detergent compositions consisting essentially of an anionic surface-active agent and an amido-amine fabric softening agent. The compositions provide in laundering operations combined cleansing and fabric softening effects.
Abstract:
The phosphiniminosulfoxonium salts and a process for preparing these salts are disclosed. The phosphiniminosulfoxonium salts are useful as emulsifying fabric softening and antibacterial agents.
