Both units are accommodated within a unitary casing comprising a frame 5 and a heat sink 10 on which the board is mounted. The casing has an open end or face in which the core is mounted in proximity to an engine driven rotor. The interconnecting leads between the coil and substrate board include terminal plates 6 and short straps 7 to avoid spurious high frequency radiations and induced signals.

    摘要: To positively allocate output signals from a transducer scanning marker elements arranged at a uniform distance from the center of a rotating disk, the markers are located around the circumference of the disk in accordance with a predetermined pattern, for example, uniformly distributed 30.degree. apart, or distributed with uniformly increasing relative distances, and an additional market element (33) and forming a reference marker is located in the zones between adjacent markers spaced from a neighboring marker element (21) of the plurality of marker elements by a distance which is substantially larger than the angular distance with respect to the marker element at the other side of the reference marker. The outputs from a pick-up sensor are evaluated by applying the outputs to two counters, counting a different clock rate, the count output of one of the counters being stored and compared with a subsequent count state of the other counter operating at a higher clock rate. If the second counter has not reached the previously stored count, a positive indication that the sense marker as the reference marker is obtained, permitting a comparator to switch over a transfer switch to route the sensor output to a line indicating that the marker was the reference marker; if the faster-counting counter has, however, reached the count state of a slower counter in the prior cycle, an indication is obtained that the marker is a regularly recurring one, thus permitting control of the transfer of the output from the sensor to a routing line indicating that the marker is a regularly recurring one. The count rates are preferably sufficiently different to accomodate expected variations in speed of rotation of the disk within the recurrence time between adjacent markers.

    摘要: An interface circuit is disclosed for receiving a ground-referenced A.C. signal for detecting transitions of the A.C. signal about ground potential. An input transistor is enabled when the A.C. signal voltage falls below ground potential by one base-emitter forward drop. The input transistor is disabled when the A.C. signal voltage rises above ground potential by one base-emitter forward drop. A feedback circuit and a bias circuit are coupled to the input transistor for switching the threshold levels of the input transistor. The interface circuit employs a hysteresis-type switching action for improving noise immunity while providing a symmetric output waveform. The circuit requires only a single power supply and is suitable for fabrication as a highly dense, monolithic integrated circuit. Also, the circuit provides a low input impedance to large positive and negative voltage transients.

    摘要: Two phase displaced alternating current wave forms are generated by a magnetic pickup arrangement including two each split pole tips in magnetic circuit relationship with a rotatable toothed disk and structure for changing the phase relationship of each of the generated wave forms at predetermined intervals, the pole tips being mechanically separated from each other about the periphery of the disk by a distance determined by the desired wave form phase displacement and the desired duration of a periodic system output signal. Auxiliary alternating current wave forms are produced from the generated wave forms to provide a plurality of equally phase displaced alternating current wave forms and all are converted to square wave forms. A gating circuit combination initiates and terminates the system periodic output signal upon alternate changes of phase relationship of the generated wave forms and other gating circuit combination combines the squared generated and auxiliary wave forms to produce a series of other system output signal pulses of a frequency which is a multiple of the frequency of the generated and auxiliary alternating current wave forms as determined by the total number thereof.

    摘要: A vacuum unit for an ignition distributor includes a housing which is divided internally into first and second chambers by a diaphragm. A connecting link for attachment at one end to the timing plate of the ignition distributor is connected at its other end to the diaphragm so as to move therewith. Secured to the housing of the unit is a bracket whereby the unit can be secured in position on the casing of the ignition distributor and the bracket is provided with a locating member. In use the locating member is engaged by the detachable insulating cap of the distributor, and so serves to locate the cap angularly in the desired position relative to the distributor casing. The connecting link is provided at said one end with means whereby the connecting link is coupled to the timing plate. Said connecting means is provided on the link by a shaping operation, and the position of said means is determined using the location member of the bracket as a reference point.

    摘要: The disclosure describes a system for predicting the position of a moving member of an automobile engine, such as the crankshaft. The system includes means for generating reference pulses at discrete positions of the member, such as every 90* of rotation. The system is operated by a clock generator that generates clock pulses at a high rate compared to the rate at which the reference pulses are produced. In response to a reference pulse, the clock pulses are transmitted to a first counter. The first counter successively counts the pulses to its maximum capacity, at which time an output pulse is transmitted to a second counter. When the next reference pulse is received, the number held in the first counter, the correction number, is loaded into a first storage register and the number held in the second counter, the position number, is loaded into a second storage register. The position number is loaded repeatedly into a down counter that is counted down by the clock pulses to produce a series of location pulses which predict the position of the rotating member. In response to each location pulse, the correction number is added to itself and the sum is stored in an accumulator. If the sum produced by an addition is equal to or greater than the capacity of the first counter at which an output pulse is produced, the transmission of the location signal is delayed for one clock pulse, thereby increasing the accuracy with which the location pulse predicts the position of the rotating member.
