    摘要: A method is provided for determining an index representing the crank angle at which a given fuel mass fraction has been burnt in a cylinder of the engine during an engine cycle. The method includes, but is not limited to sampling the pressure within the cylinder during the engine cycle, using the pressure samples for determining the heat release rate curve during the engine cycle, using the heat release rate curve for determining the cumulative heat release curve during the engine cycle, determining a minimum value and a maximum value of the cumulative heat release curve, using the given fuel mass fraction for calculating a target value of the cumulative heat release between the minimum and maximum values, finding a goal point of the cumulative heat release curve that corresponds to the target value, assuming the crank angle corresponding to the goal point as the index. The method further includes, but is not limited to determining an opening angle within the crank angular range corresponding to compression stroke of the engine cycle, determining a closing angle within the crank angular range corresponding to the expansion stroke of the engine cycle, using the opening and closing angles for delimiting between them a first angular window, and limiting the determination of the minimum and maximum values of the cumulative heat release curve within the first angular window.

    摘要: A method of and an apparatus for detecting the maximum cylinder pressure angle in an internal combustion engine. The method comprises the steps of measuring the time lapse required for the engine crankshaft to pass between a reference crankshaft angle such as TDC and the crankshaft angle at which the cylinder pressure becomes maximum and multiplying the measured time lapse by a time-angle conversion factor. The rate of change in the engine rotation speed is taken into consideration in carrying out the time-angle conversion so that it is possible to accurately determine the position at which the cylinder pressure becomes maximum in terms of crankshaft angle regardless of the operating condition of the engine. In the apparatus, the engine speed change rate is also compensated. The time-angle conversion can be carried out accurately even when there is used a crankshaft angle sensor which detects the crankshaft angle at relatively large intervals such as once every 30 degrees.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method for determining reliability regarding misfire determination of cylinders of an engine, comprising detecting a pressure in an exhaust manifold for a set of operation parameters comprising a certain range of crank angles for a certain engine load and certain engine speed so as to, for an actual cylinder setup of the engine, create pressure sample value patterns for combustion and misfire conditions. A template course is created for the thus created pressure sample value patterns comprising a set of sample points. The pressure for the created template courses is normalized at a desired crank angle. Difference values are determined based upon differences between sample points and corresponding detected and the normalized pressure values. The determined difference values are summarized so as to determine whether a predetermined share of the summarized difference values lies above or below a predetermined threshold value indicating reliability regarding misfire determination.
