摘要:
A pattern reading apparatus reads a pattern from a reflective object. The pattern reading apparatus includes a minute-area light source, an objective lens system, an imaging lens, and an imaging element. The objective lens system causes the illumination light beam from the light source to be incident on the object and converges the light beam reflected from the object. The imaging lens forms an image of the object using only a scattered component of light which has been reflected from the object. The imaging element is positioned such that the image of the pattern is imaged for reading the pattern. A shift mechanism is provided for supporting the objective lens for movement parallel to a direction approximately perpendicular to the optical axis of the objective lens.

The method of manufacturing an optical lens in accordance with the present invention includes a drawing optical lens preform preparing step of preparing a drawing optical lens preform comprising a first curved face part, formed aspheric in one side face thereof, functioning as an optically active part, and a second curved face part, formed in a side face opposite from the first curved face part, having a curvature smaller than that of the first curved face part; a drawing step of drawing the drawing optical lens preform to a desirable outer diameter; and an optical lens preparing step of preparing an optical lens 1 by slicing the drawn drawing optical lens preform. Since the second curved face part is formed, distortions can be restrained from occurring due to the drawing in this manufacturing method.

A rod lens with one or more optically active surfaces and one or more inactive surfaces, in which one part of the optically inactive surface or surfaces, especially a lens facet and/or radial peripheral surface of a lens, is smooth, and a method for smoothing one part of one or more optically inactive surfaces of a lens, especially of a lens facet and/or radial peripheral surface of a lens. As a result, the occurrence of fissures in the lens is prevented or reduced.

The present embodiments provide methods, apparatuses, and assemblies for use in producing a desired output beam that meets a desired intensity prescription. An apparatus can include an input surface, and an optically active output surface that receives a collimated beam, such that the output surface refractively maps an illuminance distribution of the collimated beam into a prescribed intensity pattern. The apparatus can include a collimating lens that collimates an input beam. Additionally, the output surface can be defined according to a cumulative illumination integral for the illuminance distribution and a cumulative illumination integral of the intensity pattern. Some embodiments provide methods that can determine an illumination integral for an illuminance pattern of an input, determine an intensity prescription, establish a spatio-angular correspondence of the input beam with the intensity prescription, derive surface normal vectors, and determine the output surface according to the surface normal vectors.

A molded lens used in an optical pickup device provided with a plane of incidence having a first optical surface and a plane of emergence having a second optical surface, and a form of an outer circumference of the molded lens is formed by a first straight line portion which is in parallel substantially with a plane including an optical axis, a second straight line portion which is in parallel with the first straight line portion and is symmetric with the first straight line portion about the plane and by two circular arcs each connecting end portions of the first and second straight line portions. A part of a fringe of each of the first and second optical surfaces is substantially in a form of a circle whose center is on the optical axis is cut off by each of the first and second straight line portions.

The energy beam guide comprises a first region having a first refractive index, the first region having an energy beam receiving end and an inclined first boundary opposing the energy beam receiving end. The energy beam guide also includes a second region having a second refractive index that is less than the first refractive index. The second region shares the first boundary with the first region, and has a declined second boundary opposing the first boundary. A predetermined distance separates the first and second boundaries. Finally, the energy beam guide comprises a third region having a third refractive index. The third region shares the second boundary with the second region. Also provided are a method for making and using the energy beam guide.

A linear lens system for rigid endoscopes for the conversion of a distal intermediate image (1) into a proximal intermediate image (4), is characterized by a first non-symmetrically arranged sequence of two linear lenses (6, 7), a subsequent odd sequence of similar, non-cemented, symmetrically biconvex linear lenses (10, 11, 12), and a final sequence of two linear lenses (8, 9), arranged as a mirror image to the first sequence (6, 7).

High spatial frequency optical noise in the form of intensity contrasting picture elements in the display of a projected light image on a bead-oriented image-enhancing filter is significantly reduced by interposing light-scattering material in the optical path between a source of the projected light image and the display in order to inhibit formation and interference of coherent light waves, and to mask the appearance of separate or discrete beaded apertures.

The invention provides an optical element that has a low refractive-index chromatic dispersion, a high degree of freedom in molding or forming as is the case with synthetic resins, and moldability or formability that lends itself to mass production. The optical element is obtained by molding or otherwise forming a composition containing a first material that is a fine particle having an Abbe number vd of 80 or greater indicative of a chromatic dispersion in a visible range and having a size of less than 400 nm, and a second material that is an organic/inorganic hybrid material comprising an organic polymer material having a carbon-carbon bond in a main chain and an inorganic component.
