摘要： There is disclosed apparatus for reading a meter, located in a building or other enclosure out of sight from the exterior of the building, by bringing a portable unit, which may be carried by meter reading personnel, into proximity with a fixed unit which is accessible from the exterior of the building, the fixed unit being connected to and responsive to an encoder register mounted on the meter, the communication between the fixed unit and the portable unit being solely by radiant energy, the fixed unit and the portable unit each having radiant energy emitting means and radiant energy receiving means, radiant energy emissions from the fixed unit transmitting binary coded decimal signals to the receiving means in the portable unit, and the radiant energy emissions from the portable unit transmitting decimal order selection signals to the receiving means in the fixed unit.

摘要： An improved numbering machine of the type having 5 or 10 conventional numbering heads mounted about a shaft coupled to a press or collator drive-train so that each of the heads is presented sequentially to provide a unique number for each of a number of sequentially presented documents or the like. Each of the heads has a first operating arm incrementing the number presented and riding in a groove of a first cam member having a portion actuating the first arms for each shaft rotation and a second operating arm incrementing or decrementing a parity digit presented by a parity digit wheel on each head. The second arms likewise ride in a groove of a second cam member having a plurality of solenoids each with a plunger member which can be moved into the groove to a position actuating the second arms so that the parity digit is incremented or decremented by one unit for each plunger in the groove. A further cam member rotates with the shaft and supplies signals to a counting and logic circuit which controls the solenoids to provide the correct modulus 10 parity coded digit.

摘要： An illuminated figure indicating, electromagnetic counter is disclosed wherein electrical input pulses are used to drive a lighted multi-segment numeral indicator. The input pulses are applied to electromagnetic means having an actuating arm which engages a gear affixed to rotor means having a predetermined pattern of surface irregularities. Resilient contacts make and break circuits for each segment of the display responsive to the surface irregularities and the stepwise rotation of the rotor means. A combination of such counters is disclosed enabling multi-digit representations and up and down counting.

摘要： A solid state digital readout device for use with gyrocompass step data in the form of either current sinking logic or current sourcing logic. The input data is waveshaped in a plurality of parallel connected Schmitt trigger circuits and coupled through inverter and switching circuits to decode gates connected in parallel with an integrated circuit decoder unit. Outputs from the decoder unit are coupled to a segmented display which provides a visual indication of direction of turn in accordance with the clockwise and counterclockwise sequential illumination of the segments and a visual indication of heading in sixths of a degree. The decode gates provide count up pulses or count down pulses for each degree of rotation in accordance with heading. These pulses are summed in an up/down counter which has its outputs coupled through a binary coded decimal decoder and applied to a display unit which indicates heading in degrees.
