摘要: A method for setting up forwarding tables is described. A USAT part for a node is received. The USAT part includes glow definitions and a FGPL. Each glow describes network traffic flows and role instructions for the flows. Each FGP describes a role for the switching node; a validity rule; and relevant network topology. The method also includes determining a selected active FGP in the FGPL using the validity rule for the FGP, a network state and the ordering of the FGPs; initializing the glows, requesting a role identification to perform based on the selected FGP, determining the role instructions and instructing the TMS to update tables accordingly; and storing entries in software tables based on glows and the role instructions for the identified role, dynamically resolving conflicts among entries, and granting table updates to hardware tables. The tables include a software table for each hardware memory for forwarding packets.

摘要: A method implemented by a network node in a Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) domain is used to provide fast reroute protection. The method includes copying a bit index routing table (BIRT) of the network node, changing a neighbor node in the copied BIRT to one of a plurality of backup neighbor nodes to generate a backup BIRT, deriving a backup bit index forwarding table (BIFT) from the backup BIRT, and forwarding a packet in accordance with the backup BIFT when the neighbor node has failed.

摘要: Methods and systems to prevent micro-loops between two network devices when there is a change in network topology. In one embodiment, a method is performed by a network device in a communications network, the method comprising computing a shortest path from the network device to a destination network device and identifying a backup network device for the network device to the destination network device, where the backup network device is a neighboring network device of the network device and is on an alternative path to the destination network device. The method further comprises determining a packet destined to the destination network device is received from a downstream network device of the network device, where the downstream network device is closer than the network device on the shortest path to the destination network device, and forwarding the packet to the backup network device based on the determination.

摘要: A method for packet transmission in a network includes receiving, by a first node, a second segment identifier sent by the third node, receiving, by the first node, a packet sent by the second node through the first path, determining, by the first node, that a next-hop node of the first node on the first path is faulty, and in response to the determining, by the first node, that a next-hop node of the first node on the first path is faulty, adding, by the first node, the second segment identifier to the packet, and sending the packet to the third node through a second path, where the second path is established by the first node based on the second segment identifier.

The method includes advertising a first EVPN label to one or more PEs that are multi-home peer PEs of the PE, advertising a second EVPN label to one or more PEs that are not multi-home peer PEs of the PE, receiving first traffic for a CE that is encapsulated with the first EVPN label as opposed to the second EVPN label, and discarding the first traffic in response to determining that a link between the PE and the CE is not operational and the first traffic for the CE is encapsulated with the first EVPN label.

The method comprises: interface direction information and a routing table issued by a control plane are received, where a route in the routing table carries a routing direction identifier; when a packet is received from an interface, a forwarding plane determines the interface direction of an incoming interface of the packet according to the interface direction information, and determines a routing direction of the packet according to the routing direction identifier; if the interface direction of the incoming interface matches the routing direction, then the packet is forwarded; and if not, then the packet is discarded.

摘要: In one embodiment, a method according to the present disclosure includes receiving a topology change advertisement at a remote core edge node and performing a network address information removal operation. The topology change advertisement is received from a core edge node that is in communication with an access network. The topology change advertisement indicates that a topology change has occurred in the access network. The network address information removal operation removes network address information stored by the remote core edge node. The network address information is used by the remote core edge node in participating in communications with the core edge node.
