    摘要: The invention entails a modular sectional race track with recreational style racing vehicles, such as four wheel all terrain recreational vehicles. The sectional race course usually has moving obstacles, various obstructions plus the general design of the course track induces the racing vehicles to spin out, tilt over on their side or framework roof and/or rollover completely. The race vehicles have specifically designed roll over frameworks that, with the driver's safety harness fastened, assist the racing vehicles to roll back over on to its drive tires. The racing vehicle may be additionally assisted to roll back over by a driver initiated mechanical righting device. The race tracks' sections can be configured to be sized and shaped for specific race venues. The track sections can be quickly attached, detached and transported as needed.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an area suitable for equestrian use. The area comprises an upper, equestrian surface layer, and a sub-surface support layer which includes a plurality of laterally arranged load bearing structural modules. Each module comprises a top wall and a bottom wall spaced therefrom by one or more supporting elements so as to define an interior volume between the top and bottom walls, and is provided with at least one aperture to permit the flow of water into and out of the volume. There is a system for retaining water within at least some modules in the sub-surface support layer. A water permeable layer that is impermeable to solid particles of the upper, equestrian surface layer is provided between the structural modules and the equestrian surface layer. A wicking system is in fluid communication with the interior volumes of at least some of the modules and have portions extending upwardly to transfer water to the upper, equestrian surface layer from the sub-surface support layer.

    摘要: This invention relates to gravity-driven car racing, specifically an improved ramp, such as used in the popular Pinewood Derby race, which is cycloid shaped. The present invention eliminates excessive centripetal force and related problems such as car oscillation caused by prior art ramps which are curved too much or curved in the wrong places. The present invention comprises a ramp shaped as a section of a cycloid curve with the ramp bottom tangent to the horizontal coasting run. It can be shown mathematically that such a curve will produce the least possible centripetal force and associated friction increase in the car wheels as it accelerates toward the coasting run. The present invention causes a ramp to assume the cycloid shape by applying appropriate bending forces to the underside of the ramp. In a preferred embodiment, a hinged brace automatically applies the key bending force as the main support legs are lowered.

    摘要: A protection system to prevent or minimize likelihood of injury to a rider at a racetrack if the jockey is thrown over the rail which surrounds the track. Usually the rail is supported by a curved post which extends upwardly from the ground and inwardly toward the track. A series of deflector panels are provided along the rail and are biased to generally horizontal position adjacent the rail by a coil spring device so that when a rider is thrown over the rail and contacts the deflector device the deflector then moves downwardly in response to the impact of the rider. The deflector then return to a generally horizontal position by the bias device after the rider has rolled off of the deflector.
