    摘要: Methods are provided for estimation of birthing data (such as birthing date and birthing weight) by consideration of a mother animal's weight over an expected birthing period. The method includes: measuring or providing the weight of the mother animal at intervals over an expected birthing period to provide a series of dated weight records, estimating the underlying weight of the mother animal over the expected birthing period from the series of dated weight records, and identifying a significant weight drop of the mother animal by reference to the estimated underlying weight, wherein the estimated birthing date is on or before the date of the significant weight drop. The methods are particularly useful in animals associated with production, such as cattle.

    摘要: A system measures the three-dimensional phenotypic characteristics of an animal, such as a dairy cow. The system uses a large number of modulated laser light beams from a lidar camera to measure approximately 100 points per square inch of the animal. Each laser beam measures intensity, horizontal, vertical, and depth dimensions, and by combining the measurements, the system composes a very accurate three-dimensional image of the animal. The systems calculates the desired phenotypic measurements for conformation of the animal by combining measurements of selected points on the animal. The system then stores the measurements for each animal in a computer data base for later use. The system also stores a light intensity image of the animal's markings which is compared to other stored images.

    摘要: An improved weighing apparatus and method of weighing a live fish is disclosed. Here, the weighing apparatus and method has a container member having swingably coupled cover member thereabove and a guide member coupled therebelow a base member of the container. The guide member of the container is provided to allow the container to be slidably mounted thereabove a weighing scale having a capacity to provide a weight readout to nearest one-tenth of an ounce and a maximum capacity of at least 200 ounces. The weighing scale of the improved improved weighing apparatus of the present invention is preferably battery operated or suitable for being electrically operated, as well as being compact, portable, lightweight and easily transportable. The improved weighing apparatus and method of the present invention provides a rapid, accurate and efficient means to weigh a struggling live fish for use particularly by sports fisherman in fishing tournaments or for merchants in fishing markets.

    摘要: A livestock scale has a weighing platform supported by a support apparatus and is vertically movable relative thereto. A weighing mechanism is provided and indicates the weight of a load received on the platform. Primary and secondary scale arms are pivotally connected to the support apparatus and the weighing platform by hanging links. A connecting link connects the primary scale arm to the secondary scale arm along a medial segment of the secondary scale arm. A weight indicator is held by the support apparatus and is connected to the primary scale arm for indicating a weight in predetermined proportion to the weight of the load on the platform. Horizontal movement of the weighing platform is restrained by a pair of lateral sway bars and a longitudinal sway link, while vertical deflection of the weighing platform during weighing is not inhibited thereby. The sway link forms a parallelogram configuration with the primary scale arm and the primary hanging link and associated support apparatus. Alternatively, flexible restraints are connected to the structure and the weighing platform for restraining horizontal movement of the platform.

    摘要: A weighing balance to provide an average weight to an object which tends to move while being weighed such as a laboratory animal. The object to be weighed is placed on a receiving pan which provides an electrical analog output signal corresponding to the weight of the object. This signal after passing through an amplifier is converted to a digital electrical signal fed to a data input control means. A level detector setting means allows an output from said control means only when the weight on the balance reaches a predetermined level. The output from the control means is fed to a memory having a plurality of registers which store this information. Coupled on one side to this memory is a comparator which is also coupled on a second side to said control means. Also coupled to said comparator means is an allowable range means, sampling time means, and average calculating means. The average calculating means feeds an output to a printer.

    摘要: A scale for weighing an animal as it moves along a weighing platform. The platform is suspended at four corners with tensile load cells mounted to mechanisms suspending the platform at the corners. Weight applied to the platform will produce tensile stress in the load cells. The cells produce analogue signals that are proportional to the magnitude of the tensile forces. A restraining device allows slight vertical platform movement (in response to applied load) while restraining longitudinal and transverse platform movement. The suspension means and restraining means operate to allow transfer of vertical stress on the load cells with horizontal restraints being eliminated through the suspension and restraining means.
